Job Description

Are you a skilled problem-solver with a passion for technical support and customer service? We’re looking for a Field Service Technician to join our SNIF team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced work environment while delivering top-tier technical and sales support to our customers.

This position will also require the ability to travel as needed while working remotely, up to 80%.  Candidate should be within close proximity of major airport.

This is definitely not a desk job.

✈️ Travel Up to 80% — Domestic & Global

Travel is a major part of this position, with the opportunity to work at customer facilities and manufacturing sites throughout the U.S. and around the world.

You’ll travel by land and/or air to support equipment installations, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, customer training, and technical projects.

If you enjoy seeing new places, meeting customers, and putting your engineering skills to work on real equipment, this role offers plenty of opportunity to do exactly that.

🔧 Put Your Engineering Skills to Work

As a Field Service Engineer, you'll be the technical resource customers rely on when equipment isn't performing as expected.

You'll:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in demanding manufacturing environments.
  • Provide onsite technical support for equipment operation, maintenance, commissioning, and repair.
  • Support the installation, startup, commissioning, and maintenance of industrial equipment and engineered systems.
  • Inspect and test machinery and equipment to verify proper operation and performance.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, blueprints, operating manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Perform instrument loop checks and system safety checks.
  • Troubleshoot and tune equipment controls and system integration.
  • Apply PLC knowledge to support the troubleshooting, programming, design, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide technical training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Investigate equipment failures and customer complaints and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports documenting findings, recommendations, and resolutions.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales to resolve technical issues and improve customer satisfaction.

⚙️ Mechanical + Electrical Expertise

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys getting close to the equipment—not someone who wants to troubleshoot everything from behind a computer.

Your ability to understand how mechanical systems, electrical components, controls, and industrial equipment work together will be critical to your success.

Experience with manufacturing equipment, industrial fuel-fired equipment, engineered systems, aluminum, primary metals, or similar industrial environments is highly valued.

Qualifications

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Hands-on mechanical and/or electrical experience with manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot machinery using technical principles, drawings, manuals, and established procedures.
  • Working knowledge of PLC controls and programming.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and CADD applications preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Valid U.S. Passport, or ability to obtain one.

🌎 This Is a Field-First Engineering Role

Up to 80% travel. Domestic and international.

You'll spend significant time at customer locations—not simply visiting them, but working alongside their teams, inspecting equipment, diagnosing problems, commissioning systems, providing training, and delivering solutions.

The work can involve extended hours based on customer and project needs, so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential.
