Job Description

The Production Team Lead is a working leader, taking direction from production supervisors with a focus on resolving paperwork and material shortage issues to ensure work can continue to proceed. The Production Team Lead communicates professionally and effectively with team members within the department as well as across all departments as needed when changes occur to ensure production flow and to ensure customer satisfaction.

Shift:  Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

** Starting wage $24.43 with the potential to earn more based on performance and experience. **

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for operators to accurately identify production constraints and appropriately address procedural questions. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Promptly and appropriately resolving material shortage issues and/or escalating as appropriate.
    • Investigate shortages with refractory, steel and other material shortages and make appropriate corrections and adjustments as required.
    • Generate new work orders, drawings or other paperwork as required to include current or latest revisions.
  • Responsible for auditing tool boards and tool cabinets and communicating and coordinating with supervisor to order and replace tools as required.
  • Accurately perform daily audits on control plans, blue sheets and inspection paperwork and inform supervisors of issues or trends.
  • Perform effective safety and GEMBA walks weekly or as directed by supervisors or operations manager.
  • Provide labor support and back-up as needed throughout the plant, including but not limited to:
    • Fill in for operators as required to perform direct labor on various projects throughout the plant.
    • Train with other supervisors in the plant to better understand all facets of the business, act as a back-up for the supervisors in other departments during their absence.
  • Promote positive team member and customer relations by supporting Pyrotek’s commitment to a working environment of tolerance, acceptance and civility.  Respond appropriately to inquiries, concerns and complaints by being professional, courteous and respectful at all times.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED, plus a minimum of two (2) years of manufacturing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Applications Skills. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.   Ability to use and interpret dimensional measuring tools (tape measure) or equipment.  Strong mechanical aptitude.  Proficient with math skills, simple calculations involving fractions and decimals.  Ability to identify and implement improvements.  Ability to use cranes, hand tools and other instruments. Ability to obtain forklift and overhead crane certification.
  • Core People Skills.  Ability to positively interact and work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment.  Must be able to set effective priorities and adjust quickly and appropriately to changing demands and needs. Ability to apply a large measure of common sense to a variety of situations. Genuine with high ethical standards and values and personal integrity and honesty.

  • Computer/Applications Skills. Proficient computer skills using a variety of software applications systems.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook.  Ability to operate bar code scanners.  Familiarity with and ability to learn an Enterprise Resource Program (ERP) system.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach, walk, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English by telephone, in person and in writing.  Effectively use a personal computer.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to wear protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and a respirator as needed.

Working Environment
Works in a manufacturing environment where the team member is frequently exposed to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, light to moderate amounts of airborne dust, moving mechanical parts such as overhead cranes, vibration and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Hard-working surfaces for standing and walking.
