Job Description

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible to supervise and coordinate daily activities of warehouse team members to include:  material handling, receiving, loading, unloading, transporting, order filling, shipping, and maintaining stock and inventory in the warehouse. This is a “working” position and requires hands on work in addition to supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Act as a champion for Pyrotek’s Quality Program and ISO policies and procedures.   Respond appropriately to requests for information, and provide assistance to ensure timely investigation, causal analysis, and corrective action takes place.  
  • Accurately maintain and manage warehouse inventory:  
    • Develop effective inventory storage plans to ensure safe, efficient movement of existing inventory and optimal use of space
    • Manage incoming raw materials (graphite and metal) through transaction entries in Visual ERP system and ensuring physical location is accurate
    • Transact materials into and out of the warehouse area through Enterprise Resource Planning system
    • Manage the process to pull, stage and transact materials for upcoming workorders in all departments to ensure one-point access to materials
    • Ensure regular cycle counts are completed per financial reporting requirements 
    • Regularly review and improve workflow and processes in order to improve quality and efficiency
    • Identify and correct inaccuracies in inventory counts
    • Streamline inventory workflow for materials issued to each department
    • Process transactions to and from the warehouse to work orders.
  • Regularly review shipping and receiving demand, material movement requests, and match supply levels to shipping and receiving volume in order to meet customer demand.
  • Ensure appropriate customs paperwork is accurately completed and maintained for international shipments.
  • Develop efficient and effective work schedules for employees based on workflow to ensure production goals of the plant are met.
  • Maintain physical condition and cleanliness of warehouse. Prepare requisitions for repair and replacement of equipment and tools. Actively participate and support 5S, Lean, Kaizen and other continuous improvement events
  • Control and monitor department expenses to budget and plant spending goals.
  • Perform day-to-day warehouse tasks as necessary to meet business need.
  • Supervise, coach, support, train and develop personnel in assigned area; resolve personnel issues, redirecting complex issues to management and HR in a timely manner; directly manage team members, including assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance/compensation, resolving grievances, administering disciplinary action, interviewing employment candidates, and effectively recommending hires and terminations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure effective communication of goals, objectives and expectations throughout assigned department/team members. Maintain the cooperation and support of team members company-wide through effective interdepartmental communication. Serve as a role model in areas such as professionalism, service orientation, agent of change, education, and commitment to organizational goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

Two years of related supervisory experience/and or training plus Associate degree (AAS) in Business Administration;  or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software preferred

  • Computer/Application Skills.   Proficient in in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word.   Working knowledge and experience with shipping / receiving and inventory control modules within an ERP system preferred.
  • Analytical Skills.  Ability to use information/data and various metrics to develop an informed and factual business case.  Strong financial analytical capabilities for developing profitable product strategies. Ability to define problems, collect objective data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in handling of proprietary and confidential information.  Ability to work independently, without significant direction and to use resources effectively to “figure it out.”  Strong critical thinking skills, judgment and keen attention to detail and accuracy.  Exceptional prioritization, time management and organizational skills.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
