Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Safety Director to join our team of Safety Consultants. This is a full time, salaried position (not project based). We have several clients evaluating proposals to develop and maintain their Safety Program.

The Safety Director is responsible continuous guidance of the client’s safety policies, procedures and implementation. This position has a significant influence on the clients overall safety performance. This person is an expert in the OSHA Standards and safety hazards.

Essential Functions

  • Promote, communicate and sell our services
  • Contribute to the company growth through the delivery of services
  • Attend safety networking and training events
  • Timely and accurately completing services to meet assigned clients expectations. Complete ownership of given tasks and communication with clients
  • Conducts safety inspections and compliance audits
  • Communicate audit report outcomes to the client and provide solutions
  • Investigates accidents/incidents conducting root cause investigations, lessons learned and the development of solutions to resolve safety issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Communicates safety concerns identified by employees, supervisors and contractors to avoid incidents and prevent recurrences
  • Conducts toolbox talks, weekly job safety meetings, monthly safety meetings and job-site Safety reviews
  • Leads and directs work of the Safety Advisors providing support and training
  • Review client(s) safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and develop new or, where necessary, make recommendations to the client
  • Create a work environment which reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of our clients employees
  • Prepare and conduct OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 courses
  • Resolve any other health and safety issues for the client

Qualifications

 

  • Must be passionate about the importance of Safety
  • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety or related construction field
  • OSHA 500 / 510 Authorized Instructor
  • First Aid/CPR certified
  • Construction Safety Certified such as any BCSP certification
  • Minimum five years relevant safety and health experience with a concentration performing risk assessment, job safety analysis, incident investigations etc.
  • Requires a sound knowledge of relevant federal regulations: OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH, ANSI, EPA etc.  
  • Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical information, rules, regulations, agency rules, executive orders and laws; conduct tests and inspect working areas, machinery, equipment and working conditions for compliance with occupational safety and health regulations
  • Ability to relate and communicate with a wide range of craftspersons and management professionals with the ability to be patient and remain calm in all situations
  • Consistently demonstrates strong interpersonal skills along with the influence and/or persuade others
  • Good problem solving and decisions making skills
  • Ability to stay focused, attentive to detail and strong documentation skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in Occupational Safety & Health
  • CSP or ASP Certification or training
  • Prior positions in both Consulting and Corporate environments

 

Physical Requirements

  • The job duties require the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and meet physical demands of position such as walking, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, squatting, and crawling in tight spaces to safely access work sites.
