Job Description

As a key member of the Leadership Team, the VP of Talent is a Business Partner and responsible for the growth and stewardship of the brand’s North American team, specifically responsible for the Central region.  The VP oversees multiple Human Resources functions, including Performance/Talent Management, Employee Relations, and Succession Planning.  The successful candidate will partner with the leadership team and their people to conceive, create, and execute corporate people programs and localized people solutions that drive business results and people development.

The VP will use their years of HR experience and their understanding of the agency’s business to provide strategic input and lead solutions in areas such as Talent Development, Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Employee Relations, among others. You will be a visible advocate of our culture and help our people understand and align with our core values. You will possess and exercise exceptional skills in complex problem solving, strategic thinking, project/process management, coaching, and fostering collaboration. This role provides the opportunity to work with a diverse set of employees and leaders across many skill sets. There is the potential for this role to provide support for multiple specialized groups spread across North America.

The VP will also oversee the management of processes and policies in compliance with agency and Publicis Groupe policy, leading a team of HR Generalists across all core functional areas. The VP will report to the CTO. This is a hybrid role, requiring three days in the office each week. Your Impact:

Team Leadership

  • Partners with and guides Leadership and People Managers in career growth initiatives to fully enable the potential of people and teams
  • Leads the implementation of Talent Review & Succession Planning solutions
  • Leads Compensation & Benefits initiatives and participates in program design, as well as managing program implementation and execution
  • Directs the execution of local operational people-related issues (e.g. relocations, immigration, on-boarding of new hires, etc)
  • Counsels management in Employee Relations issues and responds to inquiries regarding people policies, procedures and programs
  • Directs Learning and Development team on local training needs and participates in program delivery
  • Occasional travel will be required

People Processes

  • Drives all people-related initiatives and programs affecting a location or business unit (or other organizational unit)
  • Ensures all records, personnel transactions, etc. for area of responsibility are maintained timely and accurately (such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting)
  • Drives the administration of people processes such as performance review and compensation
  • Partners with leadership to develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices surrounding people processes that represent innovative, best practices for the company
  • Investigates incidents and takes appropriate actions

Communication

  • Trains and coaches managers in people processes such as terminations, promotions, compensation management, performance management, illegal harassment, etc.
  • Assesses and counsels management in the appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs

Company Contribution

  • With other leaders, finds new and innovative ways to support the core values, creating ways to keep them vital for the organization
  • Actively participates in delivering company-wide training programs

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of HR experience with solid knowledge of HR strategies, practices, and policies
  • Ability to lead and manage an effective HR organization and add value across the business in order to maintain high operational efficiency.
  • Previous experience working in complex, global businesses demonstrating an understanding of how to effectively manage/balance cultural and organizational dynamic nuances
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment and managing teams within a dynamic, fast-paced, and ever-changing space.
  • Digital/Tech, Marketing, or Consulting background preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive change
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across all levels
  • Superior critical and creative problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, the ability to see multiple sides of issues and hone in on critical elements to form basis for sound judgment, and creative thinking to generate appropriate resolutions
  • Strong project management skills and results orientation
  • Developed business acumen and judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to help define, translate, and execute on an organization’s strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Advanced ability to closely partner with senior managers and other critical stakeholders in order to influence the decisions and investments of senior management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict
