Job Description

As a Junior Revenue Accountant specializing in revenue, you will be a member of the Global Revenue Operations Team and specializing on assigned Team Verticals in Publicis Sapient International.  You will help drive and ensure accurate revenue recognition through review and analysis of client contracts, analysis of monthly revenue, creation and maintenance of reconciliations relating to revenue related accounts, and monthly financial reporting.

You will be collaborating and working closely not only with people in your team which span the globe, but also with the Client Finance and Business Operation Teams in London and overseas.  You will work to understand issues and research problems, find solutions, perform analyses to understand our results, and help uphold our policies and procedures.  You display intellectual curiosity, have a desire to understand how things work, and are excited by change and learning.

Your impact:

Supporting our financial reporting by ensuring accuracy and completeness of revenue through our month-end close process which includes: analysis of forecasted revenue versus actual results and working with Client Finance to research and resolve issues; creation of manual revenue calculations; and reconciling revenue related GL accounts.

Driving improvements in our financial success and cash flow by working with our Client Finance and Business Operations Teams through a monthly analysis of unbilled labour and expenses to help facilitate a path to invoicing and collections.

Ensuring our compliance with Corporate Policies and IFRS 15 by reviewing and analyzing client contract to determine appropriate accounting treatment, ensuring accurate set-up in Oracle, and identifying potential risks and issues.  You will also need to provide revenue oversight, guidance, problem resolution and training to various teams across the company around revenue recognition as you grow and develop in your role.

You will liaise with the General Ledger Controllership Team to understand the impact of our processes on our financial statements for the balance sheet and profit and loss statement creating and analyzing monthly reporting, which includes fluctuation analyses on revenue and balance sheet accounts, and obtaining details on aged, unbilled revenue and expenses.

Demonstrating our compliance with Corporate Policies and IFRS through assisting in the preparation of documentation and support for internal reviews and external audits.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1 to 3 years of related work experience in either a revenue accounting role or general accounting role
  • Ability to research and resolve basic to complex revenue related accounting issues including practical application of IFRS 15
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to understand and infer relationships between financial results and operational and financial events and transactions, and apply critical thinking and detailed analysis
  • Microsoft Excel experience required, including knowledge of pivot tables and advanced formulas

 

Set Yourself Apart With:

  • Experience with Oracle Project Accounting or other revenue recognition software
  • Exposure to current or previous revenue recognition guidance (including IFRS 15, ASC 606, IAS 11, IAS 18, SAB 104, or SOP 81-1, among others)
  • Experience in creating and interpreting ad hoc financial analysis and identifying issues
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines, can multi-task, and be well organized
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to collaborate and work well in a team
