Job Description

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates for this role must be able to work out of our Chicago, New York, or Philadelphia offices.

Job Function: Responsible for leading key Medical Communications accounts from a Creative perspective. This role includes directing and/or reviewing all work produced by full-time and freelance staff. The Group Art Supervisor must ensure that all work produced meets the standards set by the agency and client(s). This is a hands-on position, requiring the individual to produce an appropriate proportion of creative work.

Responsibilities:

Creative/Hands-on Work (60%)

  • Partner with Scientific Directors to create dynamic, persuasive, and highly credible medical communications
  • Build immersive, engaging presentations and live experiences
  • Take on appropriate projects and own them, start to finish
  • Manage and work independently, under tight deadlines, while juggling multiple projects
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations
  • Attend market research and advisory boards as appropriate

Management (20%)

  • Delegate to and supervise the work of staff and freelance designers/copywriters assigned to the brand
  • Manage workloads to maximize productivity of the creative team, ensuring that everyone is busy and billable
  • Work closely with scientific, account, PM, studio, and editorial to ensure that deadlines and budgets are met
  • Provide written and face-to-face feedback for annual performance reviews, as well as ongoing feedback throughout the year (written when requested)
  • Interview prospective art candidates

Leadership (20%)

  • Lead the creative team in development of concepts and execution of all projects from conception to completion
  • Assure that all art directors are trained and, where needed, mentored to maintain the standards and expectations of the agency and the client, and to meet their own career goals
  • Demonstrate to internal and external customers that you understand their products and marketing challenges and are responsive to the strategic and creative needs of the brand
  • Represent the agency at client meetings and social events as appropriate

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: VP, Group Creative Director

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years’ Medical Communications or other Medical Marketing experience
  • BA degree (Advertising, Communications, Fine Arts or Scientific related field preferred)
  • Proficiency in Macintosh hardware, CS6, Illustrator, Photoshop, and presentation software (eg, Powerpoint, Keynote, Prezi)
  • A proven track record of creative ability and judgment, successful client contact experience, the ability to work collaboratively with account management, excellent presentation skills, successful experience in managing others, availability to travel and the commitment to go the extra mile in time and effort to produce the very best work

Compensation Range:  $98,500 - $165,500 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
