Job Description

Publicis Media Canada is looking for a Controller to oversee all accounting functions, Groupe financial reporting requirements, and periodic internal/external financial audits of the agency and its brands (Starcom, Zenith, Spark, APEX). The candidate will work closely day-to-day with the agency’s EVP Finance, along with senior level peers including the Finance Director (FP&A) and SVP Client Finance Director, and will be supported by 2 Senior Financial Analysts, 1 Financial Analyst, and 1 Finance Generalist. The primary focus of the Controller will be on managing the month-end and year-end close processes in full compliance with IFRS and Publicis accounting policies and controls standards, detailed review of all balance sheet and P&L accounts (providing detailed variance analysis & commentary), and the preparation and submission of the trial balance and associated financial statements to Groupe.

Key Responsibility:

· Supervise monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycles in accordance with processes and procedures, while ensuring the integrity of the data and all deadlines are met by the Corporate Finance team. Specific tasks include:

· preparing and disseminating monthly reporting calendar prior to close

· journal entry preparation and approval

· monitoring checklist of journal entries to ensure all entries are posting timely

· scrutinizing variances to forecast and investigating differences

· reviewing the upload of financial statements into HFM

· preparing P&L and Balance Sheet analysis

· leading the preparation of Executive Review and supporting files presenting the financials, business developments, and key actual vs. forecasted activity

· reviewing inter-company mismatches and resolving open items

· main liaison with auditors and responsible for preparing necessary documents

· Preparation and compiling of responses to corporate tax filing deliverables

· Mentoring and development of Corporate Finance team members (Sr. Financial Analysts, Financial Analyst, Finance Generalists)

· Sign-off on POs, house vendor invoices, and T&E reports

· Approve agency expenditures related to charitable contributions, publicity and memberships

· Assist with New Business pitches, and agency forecasting/budgeting deliverables as necessary

· Handle ad hoc requests

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with concentration in Finance or Accounting

· CPA designation

· 7+ years Financial Reporting/Corporate Accounting experience (advertising/media agency, PR firm, or related professional services industry a strong plus).

· Supervisory experience in a client services environment

· Excellent analytical/quantitative skills with strong attention to detail

· Strong organizational, interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills

· Proficient in SAP, Hyperion, Excel, MS Office (Mediaocean/DDS a strong plus)

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

· Highly motivated, self-starter, able to multi-task and work well under pressure
