Job Description

The Role:
 

As a Senior Account Director, you will be leading account teams that develop and deliver strategic, creative programs. Your job is to tell the client’s story and relentlessly pursue the best ROI, with a focus on executing programs and developing client relationships. An essential ingredient of your success is the ability to partner and collaborate with a number of internal and external stakeholders.
 
You will play a key role in leading planning on your accounts.  You will bring your experience in understanding how powerful insights drive strategy and shape 360 fully integrated communications plans.  Strategic planning and big idea thinking are essential skills for this role.  
You will play a key role on business development. We have a strong growth culture and are looking for leaders that are great presenters, able to build creative, strategic plans, and win the room in a pitch. Budgeting, strategic planning and big idea thinking are essential skills for this role.
 
You will be a key member of our Senior Leadership team and play an integral role in steering our agency’s future and talent agenda.
 
We’re looking for a passionate team player with very strong creative, strategic thinking and organizational abilities. A strategic, creative and analytical thinker who can create cross-channel media strategies for our clients. 
 
As part of a publicly-traded company, you will be required to manage budgets and work with our finance team to forecast on a monthly basis.

Some of the amazing work you’ll do:

  • First and foremost, you’ll put clients at the center of everything you do – you’ll take the time to understand the client’s environment, business trends for the industry segment and products and organizational dynamics in order to provide counsel that will play a significant role in driving the success and reputation of our clients
  • Put your exceptional account management skills to work in developing solid client relationships and working with some of the biggest brands out there: keep in contact with clients, anticipate their needs, offer new ideas, and provide expert counsel and outstanding overall account service
  • Play a strategic leadership role with our team of top talent – managing staffing mix on accounts to meet projections and budgetary requirements while ensuring each team member has a clear understanding of expected performance and their contribution to objectives
  • Help develop award-winning, insightful and creative ideas to drive results and brand influence for our clients
  • Drive new business through participating in and leading client pitches specific to social and web strategies, investigative research, campaign analysis, monitoring, etc.
  • Build industry regard for MSL Canada’s capabilities through professional activities and community involvement keeping MSL’s name visible and developing key contacts
  • Manage multiple facets of client programs including research and insights, strategy development, campaign execution
  • Utilize your expert writing skills to draft, edit and provide feedback on a full range of highly engaging content
  • Sell in big ideas within an integrated agency model
  • The sky is the limit with creative thinking – bring your A game and encourage others to think outside the box
  • Use your knowledge of industry & brand best practices for PR, influencer relations and social media to innovate on how we do things
  • A strong people leader you will coach, develop and mentor a team of highly engaged individuals to empower them to succeed

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • You have broad and increasingly senior experience in public relations in B2C and B2B
  • Extensive experience in media relations, social media, event management and influencer relations
  • Strong proficiency in social platforms (Facebook, X (Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram, etc.…), and base knowledge of effective measurement frameworks for social programs
  • Passionate about evolving into the digital space and follow those trends and practices closely
  • A proven track record of developing and leading creative public relations strategies and programs
  • With a growth mindset you are passionate about growing business – cross-selling/up-selling and prospecting new clients
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and excitement to become an integral part of a new kind of agency 
  • Collaborative and transparent, you keep teams and senior leadership informed to ensure alignment
  • You have successfully grown and lead high performing teams with a demonstratedly adaptable leadership style to empower diverse groups to achieve goals, meet client needs and develop new skills
  • A desire to learn and grow – you seek to develop professionally through formal programs and new experiences, you are always looking to educate yourself on what is up and coming in the industry
  • A passion for working with exciting international brands
  • Strong financial acumen and organizational discipline to closely manage budgets and account profitability
