Job Description

Cloud engineers specialize in the creation, testing, and implementation of software applications at a company or an organization. They are the technical professionals responsible for the planning, design, management, maintenance, and support of cloud computing applications. They determine their client’s technological needs and suggest solutions that meet them. They enhance the delivery of cloud deployments and collaborate with development teams and other personnel to streamline application services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Deploy Cloud Infrastructure: Cloud engineers design and deploy cloud-based infrastructure, such as virtual machines, storage solutions, and networking components.
  • Engineering, automating, and orchestrating system provisioning and maintenance processes using modern cloud tools and technologies.
  • Monitor and Optimize Cloud Infrastructure: Cloud engineers are responsible for monitoring the performance of cloud-based infrastructure, diagnosing, and troubleshooting issues, and making necessary changes to optimize system performance.
  • Implement Security and Compliance Controls: Cloud engineers ensure that cloud-based infrastructure meets security and compliance requirements. They work with IT security and compliance teams to implement security and compliance controls and ensure that they are being followed.
  • Collaborate with IT Teams: Cloud engineers work closely with other IT teams, including developers, operations, and security teams. They collaborate with these teams to ensure that cloud-based infrastructure meets the organization’s requirements and can support its goals.
  • Automation: Cloud engineers develop and implement automation processes to simplify and streamline the management of cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Performing system administration tasks including configuration, systems monitoring, troubleshooting, and support while innovating to automate as much as possible.
  • Educating teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
  • Performing other tasks as defined, planned, and approved by leadership.
  • Organizing and migrating data from computer systems to the cloud.
  • Cloud infrastructure configuration with the help of network and security services.
  • Making applications and architecting databases over the cloud.
  • Managing the cloud data storage.
  • Establishing a secure cloud environment.
  • Ensuring proper availability of the services.
  • Requesting new technology.
  • Developing strategies for disaster management and recovery.
