We are looking for a Solutions Architect to join our wonderful and diverse team of eCommerce specialists in Melbourne (you can also be located anywhere in Australia!). This role is primarily responsible for elicitation of business, functional and non-functional requirements, their documentation and analysis, development of the high-level architecture of the solutions based on the platforms used at Balance and aligned with the functionality and structure of these platforms.

This role will require:

  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders along with refining requirements based on the needs of the clients as required. Providing our clients with advice on the functionality of the platforms, available, 3rd-party solutions compatible with the platform and best practices in the industry.
  • Involvement in the pre-sales and sales processes and ongoing participation in projects in the roles of the Product Owner or as a project team member specialising in Business Systems Analysis and Architecture for complex enterprise projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Pre-sales consulting and support of the sales team.
  • Preparation of the high-level technical materials for proposals, ensuring the alignment of the solutions with the business needs of clients and the functionality of the core platforms.
  • Providing advice on the functionality of platforms used at Balance. Advise on the optimal configuration of platforms based on the available requirements.
  • Elicitation, analysis and management of business, functional and non-functional requirements using BA techniques including workshops, interviews, questionnaires, and others.
  • Facilitation of the workshops.
  • Mapping of the AS-IS and TO-BE states of the business processes, activity sets and practices.
  • Development of the high-level architecture of solutions based on the functionality and constraints of platforms and 3rd-party extensions and services.
  • Development of high-level architecture for integration solutions (system landscape/overview, data flows, interaction diagrams, etc)
  • Participation in solution functional design together with the implementation teams
  • Ongoing support of the implementation teams, acting as an internal Product Owner
  • Estimation of effort for the solution design and delivery with the project implementation team
  • Leverage industry and organisational standards, patterns, and best practices to develop solutions that fulfil client business strategies.
  • Establish and foster strong relationships with a broad audience of customers, service providers, vendor partners, technical peers, and client senior management.
  • Is respected as an authoritative source in multiple defined technical domains and possesses strong working knowledge of broad cloud based technical solutions in eCommerce.
  • Prototype technical solutions.
  • Act as technical lead for parts of a project when required including code reviews, etc.
  • Participate in maintenance of company standards, patterns, and practices for technology design and delivery.

  • You have strong communication and management skills, with the ability to efficiently interact with and influence a variety of stakeholders across all levels, and with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You’re a natural collaborator, with experience leading and mentoring teams.
  • You are a thought leader when it comes to Solutions Architecture best practice.
  • You have strong complexity management skills. You can lead on the formulation and implementation of strategy and absorb complex information.
  • You possess a deep understanding of the industry and the implication and future of emerging technologies for the wider business environment.
  • You have proven ability to manage teams and mitigate risk, and have demonstrated clear leadership in your previous role/s.
  • You’re a strong team player and appreciate learning from the skills and perspectives of others.

Your Skills / Experience / Certifications:

  • Ideally a bachelor’s degree in IT, Science or Business
  • Certified Adobe Commerce Business Practitioner *
  • 4+ years’ experience (Consulting, Software Development and Business Systems Analysis) in projects based on platforms similar to Adobe Commerce/Magento (Possibly, in other areas) and of the size of 2,000+ person hours.
  • 1+ years of experience as a Solutions Architect.
  • 1+ year of experience in a mature SCRUM environment.
  • BCS Business Analysis Framework, UML, Enterprise Integration Patterns, SCRUM
  • BCS Business Analysis (Foundation level or higher) or IIBA CBAP *
  • SCRUM Product Owner (Scrum Alliance or scrum.org) *

* If absent initially, the marked certifications must be gained within 12 months after commencement of employment.
