Job Description
Provide the Publicis Groupe digital and data agencies with appropriate legal support and partnership to help ensure understanding and management of key legal, commercial and compliance risks. This role focuses on supporting development and sale of digital and data products which rely on our proprietary “Core ID” (a single customer view database which consolidates consumer activity data into individual profiles) to provide highly targeted and personalised advertising from major brands, and on supporting the Groupe’s affiliate marketing practice.
- Develop and maintain expertise in Publicis Groupe data products (developed, integrated and sold by Epsilon, CJ, CitrusAd, Yieldify and the Publicis Media Hub Data & Commerce Practice);
- Review, draft, revise and negotiate services agreements and other commercial contracts (such as Master Service Agreements, Statements of Work, Licences, SaaS agreements, data protection agreements) with both clients and vendors;
- Advise the Publicis Groupe’s UK agencies on all commercial legal aspects of their business, focusing on the digital and data practices;
- Coordinate, manage and draft legal responses to new clients’ pitch proposals;
- Partner with UK Digital & Data Practices Legal Lead to coordinate support for Publicis Groupe data products and provide supervisory support and feedback to other team members supporting Publicis Groupe data products, including leading support for CJ Affiliates as first point of contact;
- Coordinate with Legal teams in the US and Europe on Publicis Groupe data product contract templates to promote consistency across approaches to negotiating terms and communicate know-how;
- Define and enforce contract standards and negotiation parameters for Publicis Groupe data product contracts; Support in developing legal precedents and best practices;
- Review non-disclosure and other new business agreements;
- Advise on contract and regulatory compliance matters, including data privacy, IP matters, software licensing, and SaaS arrangements;
- Flexibility and willingness to take on work from other business areas of the Publicis Groupe to ensure that the Legal team can manage the overall workload efficiently and that all team members have an understanding of the business as a whole;
- Support the agencies in relation to disputes and litigation resolution and provide internal reports, where needed;
- Keep up to date and ensure awareness of current issues affecting the digital consulting, software and systems industry and their implications on client contract negotiations;
- Assist in training agencies as well as members of the legal team on commercial legal considerations in the digital and data practices
Qualifications
Experience/Qualifications/Certifications
- Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with solid experience (at least 4 years), ideally with experience in an in-house environment.
Knowledge / Experience
- Expert knowledge of commercial contract law;
- Experience of a wide range of commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements;
- Experience of data protection law and compliance;
- Familiarity with digital marketing, consulting, information technology services and advertising business and contracts valued.
Skills (including technology)
- Excellent English language drafting, negotiation and advisory skills;
