Job Description

As a technical writer within our fast-paced, high production, you will be responsible for developing new and maintaining existing content and documentation for IT infrastructure and services. This includes but not limited to sending / coordinating Corporate IT communications for downtime, planned maintenances, IT project deployment notifications, documentation, user guides, installation manuals, quick start guides. Additionally, the writer must be able to follow-up to secure detail needed. This person must be flexible and adaptable to change.

Skills

  • 2 or more years’ experience writing technical publications.
  • Must have a Bachelor s degree in Computers. Preferred candidates with Technical Communications courses, or related field
  • Expert communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced use of PCM tool, Adobe, etc.
  • Advanced use of the Microsoft Office Suite for PC platforms
  • Work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to work on other writers’ projects to help meet deadlines.
  • Understand and communicate complex technology in a user-friendly manner.
  • Display a positive professional attitude and be ready to work. Follow all applicable standards and guidelines.
  • Project management skills

 Responsibilities

  • Work closely with infrastructure and application engineers to produce and maintain complete, accurate technical documentation.
  • Create urgent alert and bulletin documentation as necessary for timely release to address emergent problems.
  • Design and produce HTML/ XML-based help systems for software.
  • Work with engineers and support leads to assess the possible impact and audience.
  • Coordinate with Regional leads for understanding the translation requirements of the communications.
  • Create illustrations and graphics (vector- and raster-based) for technical documentation.
  • Obtain scope, content, and schedule of desired end product and develop plans and milestones to achieve success.
  • Create presentations in alternative formats such as computer-based interactive training, video training, and web-delivered documentation.
  • Design and develop templates for technical documents.
  • Edit manuals and other technical documentation created by other technical writers.
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to work on other writer’s project to help meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for documentation projects for large, high-profile customers (complex project management skills a MUST)
  • Provide technical direction, oversee, help, and guide less experienced/junior writers.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standard authoring tools
  • Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation.

 

Qualifications

Must complete full time bachelor's degree.
