Job Description

The Vice President, Digital Performance will be at the forefront of the digital and programmatic landscape to drive leading digital media strategies for Apex Canada. They will lead a growing digital and programmatic team and will play a key leadership role in overseeing the ongoing build-out and development of Apex digital and programmatic solutions and capabilities. Providing strategic digital planning support to the agency brands – Spark, Zenith and Starcom, the leader will absorb client business challenges, source actionable insights, consider opportunities across existing and emerging platforms to deliver effective strategies. They will ensure consistency across the digital and programmatic media buying process and identify first-to-market opportunities with innovative digital media products. This leadership role will manage both third party vendor partnerships and negotiations, and the brand specific internal media teams at Apex. The leader will provide thought leadership and collaboration, while fostering a team environment that delivers world-class campaigns and uphold delivery and execution of the Apex value proposition.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with management skills to build, lead and coach a growing team domestically and virtually. This individual carries deep digital and programmatic media expertise and will be creative solutions advocate, willing and eager to try new tools and technology. The right leader for this role will have ambition and desire to create, grow and partner with brand planning team leads, and media vendors partnerships.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and effectively manage a growing team of digital and programmatic media specialists
  • Facilitate each team member’s development providing ongoing coaching, feedback, career coaching and direction
  • The Apex business lead in setting approach to performance strategy for our agency, clients, and teams
  • Be key point of contact with Global programmatic teams within the network
  • Partner with brand agency digital/strategy leads to help strategically guide client strategy to deliver outcomes, while infusing performance mindset into all major channels and facets
  • Enable processes and workflows to drive our holistic approach and consistency to client campaigns
  • Seek opportunities within brand agency network to improve and grow client business, influencing a broad reaching portfolio of clients at the agency
  • Voice in the industry and for Apex and support brand agency in driving partnerships and thought leadership
  • Manage external partners and negotiate publisher/partner rates
  • Influence and drive the development of our overall performance product for the organization
  • Responsible for identifying the new and emerging engagement points important for performance product and accountable to influence solutions, products that increase delivery and drive clients, agency and industry forward
  • Leader within and across the agency
  • Act as a consultant, trusted advisor in the programmatic activation and digital space

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience, 5+ years managing team members
  • Experience with multiple DSPs and publishers a must
  • Experience managing P&L an asset
  • History of escalating agency roles in leadership capacity
  • Comfort and adaptability working within matrix organizations
  • Innovative and forward thinker
  • Hands on and collaborative leader with experience successfully leading high performing
  • Passion for facilitating the teaching/training, coaching and support of growing digital media team on activation planning and process.
  • Anticipate and address client challenges with core and adjacent teams
  • Empowers team and demonstrates empathy and integrity with a positive attitude
  • Is aware of bandwidth of team, team members strengths and weaknesses and where and when to step in
  • Problem-solving nature and deep curiosity to uncover the best solutions
