Job Description

We are recruiting for a Strategy and Planning Director role for the platformGSK International Pharma team for the Global Vaccines business. This person will be the day to day client lead across workstreams on the account, with a deeper focus on developing quality global media strategy guidance and elevation of the delivery of the planning product developed in our local markets for GSK Vaccines.

The Strategy and Planning Director provides functional management and leadership to local agency teams and proactively sets the course and optimizes the processes necessary to deliver our product effectively and efficiently. You will be someone who understands the importance of having a consistent strategic and planning approach, including a view on what good looks like, while also appreciating when local nuances should be incorporated.

The Strategy and Planning Director will also work closely with the Reporting and Insights Director to identify relevant learnings and incorporate that learning into future strategic recommendations and test and learn initiatives.

Working closely and collaborating with creative agencies and creating fit for purpose assets that will work across multiple priority markets is imperative to success in this role. You will be a key person in the collaboration with the wider inter-Agency team and will work closely with our digital colleagues to get to the right solutions for digital recommendations.

You will also play a key part in the annual Capability building programme – a series of trainings the team delivers to GSK clients across all relevant markets. You will be heavily involved in topic selection, and working with specialists when they are feeding into or running particular sessions. There will also be some sessions you will present.

Overall this is a fantastic role for the right person that looks both at the present (delivering the guidance, understanding impact of performance) as well as the future (how should media guidance evolve, what capabilities need to be developed, working with our digital experts on what developments we should be preparing for to be future-ready).

Responsibilities

Strategy & Insights

  • Lead efforts to define media strategy, contribute to strategic media planning across global markets
  • Lead the updating of annual Media Strategy Guidelines for the different Vaccine Disease Areas (e.g. Meningitis, Shingles, RSV, etc), leveraging support from the International Pharma Lead and rest of team. Translate local insights into relevant central guidance and frameworks for local implementation.
  • Collaborate with Clients and Local agency teams on incorporating the Global Guidelines into their local 2023 planning - including supporting in local discussions / workshops 
  • Engage with local planning team to review their planning approach, work to understand local nuances and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Communicate overall client vision and business objectives to the extended local agency teams
  • Lead internal and external discussions in all media topic areas
  • Work to ensure audience strategy feeds creative messaging and experience delivery across each stage of the Consumer Experience Journey (CEJ)
  • Contribute to regular insights workshops and share analysis inputs and insight with partners and Global GSK
  • Develop quarterly POVs on a relevant topic e.g.  emerging global trends, audience insights, platform developments
  • Support how channel insights can be developed and pushed forward to provide the best in class plans and strategies in market
  • Support the development Ecosystem development that drives forward the way the consumer connect with GSK through all channels
  • Evaluate the correct assets in the ecosystem and assess whether the creative agencies have provided best practice assets and second lengths
  • Day to day lead for the capability building programme
  • Contribute to the development of the media learning agenda and testing frameworks led by the Reporting and Insights Director
  • Ad hoc strategic and planning support

Account Management

  • Provide clear, regular communication regarding client and project goals, prioritization, and measures of success to all key stakeholders
  • Monthly media plan monitoring / stewardship of how strategy guidelines are being adapted in local market plans
  • Accountable for QA of client deliverables
  • Collaborate with the Global Network Lead and other team members to provide monthly updates on Local Plans against Global Guidelines Checklist for each of the relevant disease awareness areas
  • Integrate Publicis Groupe talent and services to solve client objectives when relevant

Leading Others:

  • Take accountability of own work, and that of the local agency teams
  • Delegate appropriately, manage resources, and ensure teams are working smoothly
  • This role will involve the management of a Global Executive on the team who will report directly into you. Management capabilities that we are looking for would include:
  • Delegation of tasks
  • Ability to inspire and challenge the executive to grow and develop in their role
  • Upskilling exec with key account management skills and media planning knowledge via on the job training
  • Providing clear, directive instructions when needed and mentorship and guidance when needed
  • Ensuring that the executive is delivering tasks on time and quality checking where needed
  • Ensuring all formal goal setting, feedback and annual reviews take place
  • Deliver constructive, actionable feedback
  • Inspire those around you to deliver executional excellence

Client Relationship

  • Be seen as a trusted expert by key clients 
  • Be the day to day strategy and planning lead on the International Vaccines Business
  • Integrate Publicis Groupe  products and services to solve client objectives when relevant

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Media advertising experience
  • Natural curiosity and desire to help clients achieve goals
  • Commercial,  naturally driven and high energy to constantly rise to the challenge whilst being a collaborator
  • You will be confident in presenting both internally and externally and excellent at expressing ideas succinctly
  • Pharmaceutical industry or Consumer Health preferred but not required
  • Exhibits professionalism, integrity, self-awareness, optimism and an attitude of continuous improvement
  • Proven ability to lead people and projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), media systems, tools, and resources (AdIntel, ComScore, Media Tools, etc.)
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of all vehicles and platforms within online and offline media across markets
  • Have strong digital knowledge so you are able to ask the right questions of both local agency teams and our internal digital specialists so we maximize the value we can deliver
  • Possess and apply a solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative business information used by clients
  • See bigger picture in regards to the GSK organization and the agency
  • Proactively solve problems and improve processes and efficiencies
  • Build relationships and partner across internal teams and external agencies
