Job Description

The Manager, Accounting will be responsible for managing day to day operations of the accounting team, as well as preparing ledger reconciliations and entries. This is a newly created position for this growing team.

What you will be doing:

  • Hiring, training and supervising accounting staff
  • Oversee accounting daily operations
  • Take responsibility for accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, fixed asset activity, etc. Maintaining the general ledger system
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements; assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable
  • Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with internal and external accounting regulations
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data for accuracy
  • Regularly produce financial reports or statements
  • Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Assisting with initial internal control evaluations
  • Encourage other employees to adhere to standards
  • Support internal and external audits as required
  • Maintain good rapport with staff, clients, vendors, external auditors and regulators.
  • Implement best practices, standards and procedures in all accounting functions and activities.
  • Initiate and implement best practices of internal audit procedures.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

 

Qualifications

 

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related work experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance
  • Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas
  • Experience with financial reporting requirements
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Strong Excel skills and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency and without hands on supervision 
  • Ability to display initiative and ownership
  • Proactive and able to anticipate needs and issues before they arise 
  • Must be detail oriented and possess good organizational skills
  • Flexible as responsibilities may shift over time
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and succeed in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire to grow and assume more responsibility
  • Must be comfortable interfacing with employees outside of the office at other locations, via phone, email and web meetings to gain understanding and obtain information to complete monthly tasks
  • Must be a strong team player, flexible, and willing to work overtime when required
