POST PRODUCTION ENGINEER, PICTURE

Supporting an expanding facility, HARBOR are recruiting a talented, ambitious Post Production Engineer whose skills are focused primarily in post technology and workflow. Based in our London facility and working with the international technology team, this individual will be responsible for installation, maintenance and performance of system hardware and software, including servers, network devices, and production workstations both on site and remote. This position requires a thorough understanding of the picture post production process for commercial, feature, and episodic workflows. An ideal candidate must be extremely organised and will be expected to execute multiple projects in various stages of completion simultaneously.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide daily support for artists using AVID Media Composer, Autodesk Flame, Colorfront, Daylight, Resolve, Baselight, etc.
  • Configure, move, monitor and maintain studios, theatres and supporting suites for client sessions, ensuring workstations are in optimal running state
  • Calibration of colour critical projectors and displays and audio monitoring in conjunction with both internal and industry standards and methods
  • Assist artists and production support operators with troubleshooting connectivity and hardware related issues
  • Troubleshoot video, audio, and networking related issues throughout the theatres and edit rooms both on and off-site
  • Update, patch and build editorial and production workstations
  • Source materials from multiple new and existing vendors for upgrades, moves, and new builds
  • Document and maintain departmental procedures in a comprehensive manner for the benefit of entire technology team
  • Will be expected to assist the audio support team should the need arise
  • Will be required to travel to other UK sites for support purposes
  • Other departmental duties, as required and assigned

Qualifications

Required qualifications and background:

  • Relevant experience in a post-production, studio or broadcast engineering environment
  • Degree level education preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience with Filmlight,  Avid and Autodesk products along with Da Vinci Resolve
  • Experience with network protocols routing and switching
  • Knowledge of MacOS, Linux, and Windows systems, operating on both desktop, server, and VM environments
  • General knowledge of remote user interface and streaming protocols not limited to RGS ZCentral, NoMachine, Teradici, Nevion, Streambox, Zoom, etc
  • Scripting experience an advantage, particularly Python
  • Experience with video signal standards and related infrastructure
  • Experience with both SAN and NAS infrastructure and workflows with in-depth understanding of network file sharing protocols and filesystems; particularly NFS, SMB/CIFS and Stornext
  • Administration experience of secure digital delivery mechanisms (Signiant, Aspera, etc.)
  • A high level appreciation of audio systems and practices
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented and excellent communication skills
