SENIOR POST PRODUCTION ENGINEER

With a primary focus on post technology and workflow, the Senior Post Production Engineer will lead a small team of engineers responsible for the installation, maintenance, and performance of systems hardware and software, including servers, network devices, and workstations, both on-premise and remote.  This position is based at our central London facility and requires a thorough understanding of the post-production process for commercial, feature and episodic workflows. This individual must be extremely organised and with the proven ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of completion simultaneously.

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Help support the Head of Technology with daily management of team priorities and tasks
  • Maintain the smooth running and functionality of the London facility and its remote installations, including all studios, theatres and supporting suites covering offline editorial, dailies, screening, picture, and audio mastering
  • Prioritise support ticket requirements and delegate task to engineering colleagues accordingly
  • Facilitating strong communication between other departments and the full engineering team to provide timely solutions to technical problems
  • Along with the Head of Technology UK and Post Producers, schedule, update, and confirm daily/weekly engineering shifts at the facility and for remote installations
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced members of the facility team
  • Organize and document in detail all procedures, training, and technical information
  • Liaise with the Head of Technology to ensure adherence to HARBOR global technical solutions and operations
  • Interface with HARBOR global engineering and support staff to help provide solutions and engage in research and development for technical operations worldwide, when applicable
  • Will be required to travel to other UK sites for support purposes.
  • Other departmental duties, as required and assigned

Qualifications

Required qualifications and background:

  • Relevant experience in a post-production, studio or broadcast engineering environment required
  • Degree level education preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience with products from Avid, Filmlight, Autodesk, Da Vinci, BSS and Audinate
  • Extensive experience with network protocols, routing, and switching
  • In depth knowledge of MacOS, Linux, and Windows systems, operating on both desktop, server, and VM environments
  • General knowledge of remote user interface and streaming protocols not limited to HP ZCentral, NoMachine, Teradici, Nevion, Streambox, Zoom, etc.
  • Scripting experience an advantage, particularly Python
  • Extensive experience with video signal standards and related infrastructure
  • Extensive experience with both SAN and NAS infrastructure and workflows
  • Understanding of network file sharing protocols, particularly NFS, SMB/CIFS, and secure digital delivery mechanisms (Signiant, Aspera, etc.)
  • Highly motivated, organised, and team-oriented with excellent communication skills
