Job Description

As a Commerce Consultant Director, you will be responsible for building out business models and use cases that can be used to form new agency-friendly solutions and work with agency partners to build out both proposals from existing services, and new service areas. You will focus on identifying and solving key industry challenges for our biggest global clients through our tools and services and help deliver materials for clients. You will conduct analyses, market research, interviews with clients and internal stakeholders, to then translate insights into recommendations to help design our client-facing solutions and recommendations.

The candidate will aid in developing solutions, creating a sales story and selling complex, high-value solutions and services as well as planning and facilitating to reach pilot / long-term agreements and commitments. 

Due to the nature of this role, the candidate must have a strong background in both consulting and commerce as well as a background in either media/technology or data. The role is responsible for assessing opportunities, assessing client needs, and industry gaps, helping to develop solutions and managing the client relationship (Agency and Advertiser), through strong relationships. 

Key to this role is understanding the e-commerce landscape and translating that into wider company documentation, as well as producing professional and compelling material to support sales pitches. This role must be able to recognize the competitive landscape, understand similarities, difference and help to develop opportunities for Publicis Commerce, in both sales and product development.

The Commerce Consultant Director will be working with internal teams across product, media and commerce. The primary function of this role is to educate, drive growth and build strong agency relationships for Publicis Commerce and its services.

The Criteria:

The role requires 10 years of total work experience, with 5+ years of experience directly related to consulting, ecommerce, sales, product, data or media

Successful applicants are expected to manage multiple stakeholders and markets, as this is a global role, making it key for them to have strong organizational skills. This is a key role and requires the ability to both work in start-up-like environments and within a large matrix organization.  The candidate needs to be a quick learner, self-starter, pro-active and have the ability to work autonomously.

A consultancy mindset, and the ability to transform briefs into a meaningful story, for the client, are skills that will set an applicant for this role, apart.

Key Tasks

  • Understanding the technicalities of our products and service offerings and translating them into a sales story
  • Understanding the eCommerce landscape and being able to proactively identify key client challenges
  • Understanding opportunities in order to develop new solutions
  • Identifies market opportunities for new products and solutions, building a business case, and proposal materials and leading the pitch process
  • Identifies, builds and develops strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and with external clients, to maximize opportunities
  • Collaborating with the internal product, data and commerce teams to develop solutions and proposals
  • Owns the production of collateral for Agency education
  • Managing and developing the business relationships for a number of strategic and/or large, complex allocated accounts and prospects to achieve revenue targets
  • Acts as a trusted advisor, becoming integral to the product development process
  • Contributes to the implementation of marketing activities and business development initiatives
  • Collaborates with other colleagues across all agencies to help maximize revenue

Key skills

  • The candidate must have 10 years of total work experience, with 5+ years of consulting experience directly in the field of commerce, media, technology or data
  • Experience pulling together business cases and models.  Examples include: use cases, business process models, and decision models
  • Ability to develop POVs and recommendations on a variety of topics to guide clients and internal partners
  • Operate efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal, written and presenting skills, with the ability to use storytelling to influence decisions
  • Work at both a strategic and an operational level
  • Ability to gather market intelligence, consumer trends and business data to form a story/POV that can then be sold to the senior leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting across all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a demonstrated ability to use numbers and metrics to back up assumptions and evaluate outcomes
  • Proven ability to work with multiple internal organizations requiring clear communication, evangelism and compromise
  • Experience working directly with sales, engineering, creative services, and operations teams
  • Strong project management ability, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and engagements in a fast-paced environment across various teams and time zones
  • A strong bias for action and delivery
  • Operational / functional understanding of ecommerce and digital landscape
  • Demonstrated integrity, maturity, and a constructive approach to challenges
