Job Description

Position Summary:

As a member of the Global Backup Team, the Backup Administrator is involved in running day-to-day operations and in supporting global backup solutions. Supporting your colleagues, performing proactive daily backup administration tasks, restoration of data when required, and effective communication with different global teams

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, configuration, and administration of backup environment. 
  • Manage all scheduled backups and the day-to-day process of off-siting/collection of tape media with 3rd parties (e.g. Iron Mountain) as well as loading and unloading of tapes.
  • Manage brand data restoration and archiving requests as they are assigned as quickly as possible with regard to the service level agreement (SLA).
  • Proactive detection, troubleshooting and resolution of backup system issues.
  • Ensure backups under your control are documented and documentation is maintained and reflects changes.
  • Implement sustainable solutions that will permanently solve the cause of the backup & archive incidents. Do the root cause analysis.
  • Be compliant with the ITIL processes in place (Incident, Problem, Patch, Change, Release, and deployment).
  • Develop a good working relationship with peers across the organization and work closely with the various IT functions in the Regions.
  • Adapt working hours to fit agreed business requirements.
  • On-call availability, occasional overtime, and weekend work.

  • Ability to conduct research into backup and archive issues as required.
  • Effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Written and spoken English.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
