Job Description

The Senior Copywriter is responsible for analyzing data, providing ongoing copy recommendations, and offering leadership on content marketing best practices. Reporting to the Copy Director, the Senior Copywriter provides thought leadership on search strategies and optimization, builds supportive relationships with Copywriters and Associate Copywriters, and works directly with clients and/or account managers to understand client needs and achieve account goals. You’ll develop content strategies, long- and short-form copy deliverables, creative ideation, website optimizations, and more for our clients. Successful Senior Copywriters will have a solid foundation in content marketing and SEO to build on.

 Role Objectives:

  • Strategize, write, and develop engaging, audience-focused content for a variety of online platforms and mediums for major brands
  • Mentor and/or manages Associate Copywriters and Copywriters; provides guidance and training for new hires as needed
  • Analyze data to identify content and keyword ideas according to determining strategies
  • Leverage experience with analytical tools to support larger team as well as other Copywriters
  • Craft copy deliverables that are typo- and error-free, consistently meeting the requirements of project briefs
  • Reference client KPIs, goals, and outside data and research to meet the strategic direction of each project
  • Incorporate up-to-the-minute audience-focused content marketing, SEO, and usability practices into all work
  • Work with Account Management and Copy teams to develop client strategy, editorial calendars, and deliverable standards and expectations that will improve performance across client sites, social media, and other platforms
  • Use problem-solving skills to shift approach when necessary—there are no template, one-size-fits-all approaches for performance content marketing
  • Engages with Copy team and wider Performance Content department stakeholders to identify and execute improvements to agency practices and processes

Qualifications

  •  Exceptional and versatile writing skills: able to produce polished, grammatical copy in a variety of voices, from casual to academic, as well as craft coherent, well-structured arguments
  • 5+ years’ experience with significant writing, research and/or online media components
  • Demonstrated content marketing, planning and management experience, such as content calendar creation and maintenance
  • Experience working at scale and speed for a high volume of deliverables
  • Editorial and/or mentoring experience: ability to contribute to the development of team members’ writing abilities
  • Proficient with online analytics metrics and related statistical concepts
  • Proficient with web analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, and Coremetrics; or search performance platforms like SEMRush, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs.
  • Deep understanding of SEO content, including keyword research, content development, and strategy
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
  • Strong analytical and implementation skills
  • Ability to craft persuasive, goal-oriented written communications
  • Strong online research skills, including advanced use of search engines
