Job Description

An integral part of the APEX Management team, the Director, Innovation and Emerging Media is a progressive media innovator and integrated cross-channel strategist. In this highly collaborative role, the director will provide thought leadership and media strategy insights – supporting the investment and governance teams for Publicis Media, across three agency brands, Starcom, Spark Foundry and Zenith.

Working closely with the EVP Apex and the PMX leadership they will bring to market various advanced media opportunities from concept and construction to negotiation and deployment in order to advance media opportunities for the agency clients, accelerating their learning and toolset in the marketplace. They will provide leadership, guidance and support to the Innovation Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with media owners to identify and develop :
    • new data and technology driven approaches to media planning/buying that improve upon existing models
    • new and interesting media opportunities for our clients to reach consumers in an impactful and disruptive way
    • build strong media approaches, grounded in brand strategy and consumer journey
    • ensure all opportunities are scalable, meaning successful testing will have meaningful impact on client plans/approaches/buying across all three agencies
  • Lead development of the Innovation Council agenda and deliverables
  • Craft POV and recommendations, grounded in consumer/customer journey, with clear channel roles and prioritizations
  • In partnership with client leadership, present opportunities to clients and external events
  • Deploy new opportunities for clients in conjunction with client teams or discipline specialists
  • Collaborate well with creative partners and media vendors
  • Create and execute clear measurement plans as part of each opportunity
  • Work closely with trade press to merchandise new opportunities that clients are executing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or college degree, concentration in business, marketing, or advertising preferred; MBA or Master’s degree is a plus
  • 8+ years of progressive levels of responsibility in media planning, buying, leadership
  • A demonstrable understanding of complex media deployment
  • Understands the modern traditional and digital media and marketing channel ecosystem
  • Programmatic experience (strategic or tactical) is a key plus
  • Understanding or experience in
    • Digital and programmatic OOH
    • Audio streaming & podcasts
    • Linear television indexed buying models/tools in market
    • Connected TV ad delivery
    • Television VOD
    • Programmatic buying
    • Scale or Sports sponsorships
    • TV Sync ad delivery
    • Attribution modelling concepts (physical and digital)
    • Mobile footfall measurement
  • Creative and innovative media thinker capable of driving media ideation
  • A strong understanding of both online and offline media
  • Clear examples of scale or new approaches that the candidate has implemented in previous experience
  • Proven experience in delivering clear, strategic presentations to C-level marketing executives
  • Very strong presentation, even selling skills
  • History of senior level client contact
  • A strong media owner network would be beneficial
  • Able to work independently and balance multiple tasks
  • People leadership is a strong plus
