Design Director

  • Full-time

Company Description

Who we are

Langland, a Publicis Health company, is the only health communications agency that thinks further across Clinical Trial Experience, Medical Strategy & Education, Public Relations & Policy, and Advertising, to create unique value with visionary clients.

What we believe

Health brings us together. In the diseases we suffer, the medicines we create, and the causes we champion, health shows us our collective humanity. When we break the barriers that divide us, when we think further, we can create healthier futures, together.

A passion for craft

Having expert thinking is only part of our story. To ensure excellence in everything we make, we have centred our disciplines around three essential crafts: science, strategy and creativity.

Job Description

This is a brand-new position that has been created to enable Langland to combine two groups of Designers into one, multi-faceted, super-team under the leadership of you, the Design Director.

Until now, Designers have been separated by discipline, however, as the business continues to expand it is necessary to re-think and implement a system of design delivery across the whole organisation.

This is a senior role where you will be given the opportunity to structure a team that can respond to a wide variety of briefs across multiple platforms and channels. The ability to switch between traditional and digital solutions is essential, as is the experience of executing work experientially and in three-dimensions.

Day to day, the work is varied and includes brand identity, advertising campaigns, social media campaigns, content, live events and PR-led communications, data visualisation, presentation materials and internal brand development activities.

Whilst the remit is wide, your focus will be on continuing to strengthen Langland’s reputation for outstanding creativity by both supporting our creative teams and working independently across the business to deliver the best possible design solutions for all.

Qualifications

You are a proven Design Director with experience of building and running your own teams and able to distil concepts into elegant design-led solutions. You are a well-respected and awarded Designer in your own right and lead by example, sharing your experience freely.

You are also a capable presenter - pitching ideas confidently to clients, as well as communicating effectively internally.

You have strong people management and leadership skills and take pride in mentoring and inspiring your team.

As this role requires the setting-up of a new, larger team, you are someone who fully appreciates the operational aspects of running a successful agency and understand the importance of being actively involved in day-to-day decision-making, such as resource management, training, and recruitment. You will also be given the opportunity of working with agency leadership to evolve Langland’s strategic offering as the business develops.

You are a constructive problem-solver, able to establish strong relationships internally and with clients. Much of Langland’s future lies in its ability to combine the skills of its multiple disciplines. To that end, your ability to build cross-functional teams and be seen as a valued partner will be essential.

Whilst you do not need to have direct experience of working in health, you will be passionate about taking the opportunity to join a sector where brand purpose is baked in.

Despite health being highly regulated, you will see this role as a chance to bring your skills into a space where great design has the potential to impact people’s lives positively; helping our clients communicate clearly with their audiences to improve health and well-being.
