Over here at MSL, we’ve been building something special for quite some time.  For the last couple of years, our agency has enjoyed strong growth across teams, business and expanded mandates.  All thanks to our creative-led campaigns that have one thing in common:  stellar content purpose built for established and new digital platforms. 

So, for the first time we are hiring a Creative Content Strategist who can work closely with our clients, account teams, and group of talented producers.  We want to find that unique person who will work across our agency to support our collective growth ambitions and help us to continue to evolve and deepen our creative ideation, content strategies and quality of production development and delivery. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Creative Content Strategist will manage oversight of our creative content planning and development, with a specific focus on social, digital, paid media and emerging platforms.

The successful candidate will have a passion for developing creative, content-first campaigns and selling them into key stakeholders.  They will also be insightful, forward-thinkers with a thirst for being on top of emerging trends, cultural shifts, and changes in human behaviour, and translating them into innovative opportunities to reach audiences.

And most importantly, this candidate will be joining a team of curious self-starters who are focused on growth—theirs and MSL’s.  This is very much a “one team” focused on collective growth, and the role will be a big contributor in furthering that value. 

Be a Creative Catalyst – Together with the account teams, shepherd the quality of creative delivery for our existing and expanding portfolio of clients, with a specific focus on those accounts identified for growth and new business

  • Create a Connection – Paired with data and insights, be the force and face behind clever creative ideas that help build trust between our clients and their audiences
     
  • Think Big – Along with our talented team, create opportunities to bridge between great ideas and exceptional execution by:
     
    • Being embedded with client teams throughout the briefing, brainstorming and creative ideation stages.
    • Guiding the strategic thinking and planning toward telling the right story, in the right channels at the right times. 
    • Strengthening client proposals by sharing new content formats and platforms that fit strategic program goals.
    • Contributing to the writing of creative production briefs with detail to required outputs (cross channels, paid and organic, multi-language, optimized for accessibility and performance)
    • Storyboarding, outlines, and wireframes for client facing digital content approvals Including scripts, text overlays, voice over, shot lists, etc.
    • Helping tell emotive stories and understand effective editing to convey narrative and brand story across several content formats
    • Managing day-to-day content delivery by working together with producers, creatives and  account teams to raise the bar on service delivery
    • Driving client service and managing programs on time and on budget
    • Being a core member of new business pitches and strategy development, working alongside new biz lead and additional team members 
    • When needed, helping to research production requirements, costs, and feasibility of XM executions (technical, audio-visual, and web/social/commerce Integrations)

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years relevant experience (i.e., account management, working with vendors and inhouse studios to create short form social content, project management, and/or creative/PR agency experience, etc.)
  • Creative thinker with a pulse on what’s happening in culture; share a passion for bringing forward-looking ideas to the team and client
  • Deep understanding of social media performance best practices including Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest and other platforms such as YouTube.
  • In-depth knowledge of related trends and innovative approaches related to communications marketing including earned, paid, digital, social & influencer engagement
  • Proven experience in developing award-winning / breakthrough creative campaigns for consumer brands
  • Proven experience in managing account teams with a blend of strong time management, leadership, team building, mentoring and client relation skills
  • Proven experience working in tandem with other creative agencies to develop integrated campaigns
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as an ability to develop presentations are essential
  • Self-starter with an ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent organization and time management; able to prioritize large volume of work effectively and efficiently with tight deadlines
