Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Medical Copywriter looking to further their experience in a new environment.

In this role you are seen as a senior figure within the creative department, the copywriting team and on client accounts. You will be responsible for medical copywriting and translating scientific language into compelling, emotive copy for a range of medical audiences, whilst also having leadership duties.

Key responsibilities:

  • Comfortably writing persuasive copy of all lengths for multiple formats and channels
  • Guiding channel-, message- and tone-appropriate copy for all audiences and media types
  • Interpreting scientific data relating to a product and translating this information into compelling promotional stories
  • Working closely with account leads and taking responsibility for medical accuracy and quality of written communications for key accounts
  • Maintaining suitable quality control levels within the team and wider agency
  • Working closely with other senior creative colleagues to inform development of relevant creative themes, ensuring medical and creative alignment, and helping uphold creative standards amongst medical copywriters
  • Providing scientific and strategic counsel to clients and internal teams regarding complex narratives and portfolio messaging development 
  • Providing effective primary people management for direct reports and mentoring other members of the medical copywriting team; identifying training and development needs
  • Actively undertaking involvement in resource management, training and recruitment
  • Proactively making recommendations for driving organic growth; leading scientific aspects of pitch development, strategic thinking and delivery
  • Identifying potential threats to successful delivery and challenging the client approach appropriately

*this role allows for hybrid working - a mix of office and remote.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in medical copywriting to a senior level demonstrating:
     - overarching scientific and content leadership for multiple accounts
     - responsibility for maintaining high scientific and copywriting standards
     - development of junior & mid-level writing talent
  • A solid scientific background (you should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences)
  • Expertise in healthcare advertising and a thorough understanding of industry regulations
  • Experience line managing and mentoring juniors is highly desirable
  • Confidence when communicating with medics and presenting to clients
  • Capable of helping medical copywriters develop their craft to deliver materials of exceptional quality
