Job Description

This role will be a Planning Manager reporting to a Planning Director.

You will work in our London office, with the option of remote working as part of your working week, as part of the Publicis Groupe UK flexible working policy. This role is working across two of our leading clients, Confused & Wella. 

The client's:

Confused

Confused.com is one of the agency’s new clients to come into the fold as part of the recent success Zenith has had with new business.

Confused.com is part of a wider collective group called ZPG – RVU, which includes existing client USwitch as well as Zoopla. Brands that have individual challenges but also opportunities to draw on similarities to help grow their business.

Confused.com is the founder of the price comparison website and has ambitious targets to reach new heights and back to its former glory.

Beyond the changing dynamics within the category, in the media space, it currently sponsors key shows including ITV’s, Who Wants To Be a Millionaire which is one part of how they bring to life their ‘Worlds of Confusion’ campaign. There is a strong desire for Zenith and Karmarama, their creative agency, who introduced their creative platform to work closely together.

Wella:

Wella is an established patch within the agency, having recently come from the Coty holding group in 2021 (also a Zenith client), over the last 12 months, the planning team have been working to establish the client as a stand-alone team structure with unique processes and new investment focuses for the various brands under the portfolio.

Wella holding company is comprised of several business divisions, the primary business-to-consumer retail hair division is Clairol (known for providing at-home hair colouring solutions), but also has focuses on business-to-business through their salon professional arm, as well as supporting growth of a number of smaller, new-to-market brands.

Following the UK lockdowns, Wella company has had a strong emphasis on a transition to digital media, as consumers changed traditional shopping patterns and demand for at-home colouring solutions spiked with many salons being closed throughout this time.

In the client media landscape, top-of-mind awareness is primarily driven through traditional TV comms, but the role will also require the candidate to navigate various digital channel offerings to build out the wider, leaner strategy across the smaller brand patches. The role also offers the opportunity to develop skills in B2B media, which relies on highly accurate targeting and provides space for innovate test and learn approaches to best deliver plans according to the given objectives.

The Work

  • Support Planning Directors to deliver outstanding work every time
  • Be go-to person for day-to-day running of the team and campaign delivery
  • Ensure you and Execs on the team deliver operational excellence
  • Be the lead for smaller responses to client briefs
  • Look for proactive media opportunities to share with your client

The Clients 

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with key, day-to-day clients
  • Deliver and set example to Execs of immaculate client service (ICS)
  • Ensure ICS is delivered by your direct reports
  • Be proactive in day-to-day client management
  • Understand client’s business and identify and share category news

The Commercial

  • Understand how we make money, be aware of growth opportunities
  • Support Planning Directors to deliver win:win opportunities for the agency and client
  • Ensure absolute financial accuracy and PO management

The Team

  • Manage 1 x Exec (Confused) Manage 2 Execs (Wella) but also work with the wider team in the Wella/Coty group
  • Lead by example, to help direct reports to be their best
  • Set clear progression plans for your direct report(s)
  • Embrace and drive positive culture within your team
  • Build positive relationships with partner agencies and suppliers

Qualifications

  • A confident, ambitious and motivated planner who can work autonomously, but also enjoys working within a team. We have a strong collaborative working culture and hence we are looking for someone who can fit in with this.
  • The ideal candidate would have a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to quickly get stuck in to projects.
  • A strategic & inquisitive mind with a proven track record of using multiple data inputs to arrive at well-thought through and exciting media solutions
