Job Description

Job Summary 

We are looking for a talented and experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to help us deliver a wide variety of successful projects on time, in scope and with high overall team satisfaction. You will be working very closely with the Vice President of Engineering, the Product Owners and the engineers. 

This position will facilitate the definition of project goals, tasks, and resource requirements; resolve or assist in the resolution of conflicts within and between projects or functional areas; and develop methods to monitor progress of project or area. This role will require detailed project documentation development, facilitating process and system engineering sessions, root cause analysis, and expert problem solving. 

Responsibilities:

Planning 

  • Ensure Engineering has the necessary requirements to make informed architectural decisions and provide accurate estimations. 

  • Ensure Product has a good understanding of the project’s impact on the existing roadmap, how priorities might change, resource reallocation and other snowballing effects. 

  • Ensure that the team fully understands and agrees on the scope of the project and the metrics for measuring success are well defined. 

  • Identify the shared resources that will be participating in the project and negotiate their availability, so they can be slotted in at the right time. 

  • Help the team identify hidden dependencies that could impact the effort and the timeline of the project. 

  • Identify any 3rd party components of the project, establish communication channels, enable the team’s access to whatever they might need.  

  • Update the roadmap with the team’s effort and estimates, highlight the milestones and deliverables, share the updates with the key stakeholders. 

 

Progress 

  • Daily check-ins with the engineers and the product owners. 

  • Monitor the progress, review the milestones and deliverables, analyze the team’s confidence. 

  • Help the team remove any roadblocks they might have, work with them to predict possible future challenges. 

  • Ensure scope & priority changes are kept at a minimum and are fully justified, bring senior management into the loop when needed, anticipate and present the impact on the roadmap of such changes. 

  • Document all changes that impact the effort or the timeline of the project, share the updates with the senior management. 

  • Report on the progress throughout the lifetime of the project. 

 

Postmortem 

  • Create a postmortem of the project, with a summary of the milestones and deliverables, comparing the plan with the execution and identify areas for improvement. 

  • Present the postmortem to the key stakeholders. 

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree - Business Management or related field preferred; or related work experience. 

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. 

  • Flexible schedule for occasional early/late meetings with CJ’s global Engineering teams. 

  • 5+ years in a mature SaaS environment as Technical Product Manager / Business Analyst / Product Manager / Product Owner, with a strong component of customer interaction. 

  • Extensive experience having managed complex software projects from ideation and design to post release support and maintenance, understanding how business priorities affect the development pipeline, remove roadblocks and communicate ETA changes. 

  • Extensive experience working in an environment with highly agile cross functional teams, including Product, Engineering, QA and DevOps. 

  • Deep understanding and experience with AGILE framework, including SCRUM and Kanban methodologies. 

  • Proven technical knowledge for communicating with developers and testers, determining a team’s strengths and weaknesses, and understanding technical specifics and project limitations. 

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) – must be able to communicate at a business and technical level with internal teams, customers, partners and executives.
