Midweight Art Director

  • Full-time

Company Description

Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness is a creative agency operating in the health and wellness space. We work with people we believe in to make work the world can believe in, and we do this by combining the type of interrogative thinking you only find in a high science agency, with the type of brand magic you only find in a creative agency. It’s this unique point of difference that’s helped us achieve fame for both our clients and their brands in everything from aesthetics, supplements, and fertility, to endocrinology, dermatology, and oncology. And the cherry, if you’re looking for one, is that we’re part of Publicis Groupe. So working with us gets you access to all manner of interesting people with an almost limitless depth and breadth of skills and experience.

Job Description

We’re looking for someone who’s looking for something. Someone who’s not quite content with where they are and what they’ve got. Someone who spends their time dreaming, making, doing, building, creating. Someone with the intelligence to think, challenge, and push things into unexpected places, without pushing people into unpleasant places. We’re looking for someone who can produce work that looks and feels like it’s been crafted by a craftsperson, not monkeyed by a monkey. Someone who doesn’t believe rules are absolute or good enough is good enough. Someone who doesn’t really like advertising, but can’t help loving it just a little. We’re looking for someone special. Maybe that someone is you?

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Midweight Art Director to join our growing and vibrant Creative department here at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness. We are a team with exacting standards and high ambition where every job is seen as an opportunity to excel. Working in partnership with a Copywriter, you will produce outstanding through-the-line communication ideas that change how people see the world.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with other creatives and designers to develop concepts, design and layout solutions that respond to a variety of client briefs
  • Take your knowledge and insight and turn them into ideas that engage the audiences for which the communication is targeted
  • Develop concepts to execute the ideas and present these both internally and externally until a preferred route is agreed between agency and client
  • Understand art direction for off and online content - ensuring that any corporate guidelines have been carefully considered and reflected in any recommendations
  • Translate creative briefs into comprehensive multi-channel design layouts
  • Work closely with designers and copywriters to devise brand guidelines
  • Work with Account handlers and Medical Writers, as appropriate, on the brand planning process to formulate idea briefs, conducting field or desk research to validate and / or challenge the brief as appropriate
  • Direct the execution of the design, supervising the work of creative partners such as illustrators or model makers to understand your creative vision
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of clients' business needs so that you can propose appropriate creative solutions

Qualifications

  • Your portfolio should demonstrate excellent conceptual thinking and immaculate execution, with multiple examples of ideas that communicate effectively in both the digital and traditional spaces.
  • You will most likely come from a well-respected advertising agency, where you will have worked on multiple campaigns for mainstream brands. But you may come from somewhere entirely different, carrying with you an entirely different way of thinking.
  • Whoever you are and wherever you come from, you will take responsibility and ownership; generate novel ideas and solutions; proactively question the status quo; pay great attention to detail; balance speed and accuracy in delivery of tasks; get involved early; and deliver work that you can stand behind not only because you believe in it, but because you know why others will, too
