Job Description

Seeking a talented, creative-minded VP, Director of Brand Planning to lead and guide the overall strategy for a range of blue-chip brands. This person will be responsible for the AOR strategic direction of the brands across channels, ensuring those strategies help drive business-driving transformation and that the brand has sustained profitable growth in its core business. Through the Publicis Groupe ‘Power or One’ model, they will work closely with Client leads and internal, cross-discipline teams across a number of partner agencies within the Publicis Groupe network to inform strategies, and partner with and be an advocate for the Creatives to ensure we have strategies and briefs that inspire award-winning work. 

Responsibilities:

  • The VP, Brand Planning will utilize their brand strategy and creation, advertising, and digital experiences (e.g., websites, services, products) to determine what is needed to make these brands famous in culture and marketplace and drive successful campaign initiatives and experience-driven engagements.  
  • Day-to-day lead across several brands, and a champion for great creative work; impact our broader teams to build brands better 
  •  A cross-functional thinker who can lead, inspire, and collaborate across disciplines and departments, within Moxie and with partner agencies within Publicis Groupe
  • Able to identify and leverage inspiration from culture to inform fresh, compelling creative work
  • Develop inspirational briefings and single-minded briefs that result in extraordinary creative and breakthrough ideas 
  • Mine research and insights to feed development of brand platforms and campaigns 
  • Distill audience, cultural, and contextual analysis to lead to new brand opportunities 
  • Facilitate planning and ideation work-sessions at the agency and with clients 
  • Partner with client insight teams for qualitative research, copy testing methodologies, brand tracking, and media market analysis 
  • Partner with media and commerce teams for communications planning, particularly across larger digital ecosystems 


 

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of agency experience developing insights, distilling cultural trends, and driving big ideas, including 3-5 years at the Director level 
  • Strong agency planning pedigree, backed up by samples of work and briefs
  • Solid track record of unlocking opportunities, generating innovative ideas and crafting insight-driven strategies that connect with consumers and inspire creative teams.  
  • Proven ability to see the big picture, distill data, research category and competitive trends and synthesize insights into a compelling story that cuts through clutter, inspires innovative thinking, and drives results for our clients --- including winning plans for new product and service ideation, brand positioning, portfolio strategy, category and domain expansion, new business model development and more 
  • Fluent in secondary and syndicated research (e.g., comScore, Simmons, MRI, Forrester, eMarketer, Mintel, etc.) and proficient in observation tools (i.e., online media brand studies, digital ethnography, and customer journey studies.) 
  • Experience with CPG 
  • Collaborative nature, team-player, no ego, and able to partner with other strategy disciplines, creative, and account teams in the spirit of producing great work 
  • Ability to command a room with an energetic, engaging, and inspirational presentation style, particularly with senior agency and client staff 
  • Excellent writer and vivid presentation creator 
  • Autonomous, fearless, and proactively identify challenges and offer solutions 
  • A natural problem solver who can identify the missing piece and way forward 
  • May require some occasional overnight travel
