SENIOR PRODUCER, SOUND POST

Leading production and post-production company serving the feature film, episodic television, and commercial advertising industries seeks an experienced producer to join its long-form sound team in New York City.  The Senior Producer, Sound Post position requires a thorough understanding of the post-production process for feature and episodic projects and workflows.  Highly motivated, with extreme attention to detail and the ability to motivate and manage a team of artists, this individual will be required to oversee sound post projects from production through delivery.  He/she will liaise with clients and manage these relationships directly, always following company standards.  The Senior Producer, Sound Post will be expected to execute multiple projects in various stages of completion simultaneously, while remaining extremely organized and focused on internal and external deadlines. 

Job Description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Track the progress of all jobs with extreme accuracy, including budgets and related workflows
  • Assign techs to jobs, assign teams considering schedule, personality, and workflow
  • Allocate rooms, stages, and workstations and managing scheduling mix stages and edit suites
  • Populate, process, and double-check all client invoices for the sound department on a daily and weekly basis
  • Closely monitor workflow of all editors and mixers per parameters of the bid and company-approved rates
  • Interface successfully with all clients, vendors, and artists on bidding, upcoming, and ongoing sound projects
  • Check and process all incoming invoicing from freelancers and vendors, assuring correctness and sending through to AP immediately upon approval
  • Working with supervisor and management team, document and systematize all department protocols, budgets, and approvals clearly and accurately, with comprehensive and shared recordkeeping
  • Facilitate dialogue between our technical staff and production teams
  • Manage freelancer personnel start paperwork and job progress
  • Track stage and personnel overtime, arrange tech and client services coverage
  • Display basic technical understanding of what each job requires upon delivery
  • Ensure every hour, day, and week paid to any staff member or freelancer is properly budgeted (with fringe) and included on the appropriate client invoice, without fail, with records to support this confirmation process
  • Hold intimate knowledge of bids, jobs (active and otherwise), union contracts, stage time, personnel, hours worked, overtime, and workflow
  • Consistently communicate with supervising sound editor regarding job progress, schedule, and personnel, as well as client/post supervisors regarding progress of jobs and overages in a clear, efficient, and timely manner
  • Sharp focus an ability to both multitask and complete timecards correctly within a timely manner each week
  • Calculate edit and mix rates for union staff based on job budget and send to finance lead for approval
  • Foster collaboration and communication between tech team and production team 
  • Other departmental duties, as required and assigned

Qualifications

Required qualifications and background:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in an equivalent role in a post-production environment
  • Thorough understanding of post-production sound workflows
  • Network & studio delivery experience
  • Microsoft Office Suite and administrative software fluency
  • Post-production software familiarity a plus (Adobe, ProTools Avid, etc.)
  • A “leave no stone unturned” personality and approach to project awards, active jobs, and client relationships
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, workstreams, and conversations simultaneous while always delivering at the highest level
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and proactively, leading to client satisfaction and repeat business
