Job Description

Senior TTL Strategist on Distell (65%):

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Drive annual and/or campaign strategy briefing process overseeing the internal process (including creative agency involvement) to client presentation and final revert
  • Continually raise the strategic standard/levels ensuring constant evolution and innovation 
  • Drive integration between traditional and digital media
  • Manage the ongoing strategy process throughout the year including meetings, outputs & delivery
  • Support the junior TTL media strategist
  • Provide clear briefs into the implementation team (ATL planner and the Ad Ops Team) 
  • Ensure billing packs are done correctly and on-time each month for the Media Buyers 
  • Ensure regular media update presentations to client e.g. trends, landscapes, hot topics etc.
  • Manage relationship with clients – Distell Brand Managers and Distell Media Team
  • Manage relationship with creative agencies ensuring collaborative teamwork with input from both business planning & invention

Senior ATL Strategist on Lactalis (40%):

  • Drive annual and/or campaign strategy briefing process overseeing the internal process (including creative agency involvement) to client presentation and final revert
  • Deliver on the ATL (mainly TV) media strategies for the year
  • Ensure all Global reporting requirements are done each month
  • Ensure integrated ATL and Digital media strategic reverts (working with a Digital Strategist on this account)
  • Provide clear briefs into the implementation team (ATL planner) 
  • Ensure billing packs are done correctly and on-time each month for the Media Buyers 
  • Ensure regular media update presentations to client e.g. trends, landscapes, hot topics etc.
  • Submit daily timesheets

Senior ATL Strategist on One Day Only (Ad Hoc):

  • Ad hoc radio campaigns to be run for ODO which often don’t require strategy
  • Manage relationship with the One Day Only Client through regular status meetings and ensure regular media update presentations to client e.g. trends, landscapes, hot topics etc.
  • Manage and produce quality work in in line with:
    • Produce clear, innovative, and integrated media strategies
    • Produce digital media flow plans
  • Deliver solid implementation planning briefs to the ATL planners and Ad Ops Teams 
  • Ensure flow plans accurately reflect the strategy
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies
  • Support and mentor the Junior TTL Media Strategist on the Distell Account
  • Assist with developing other strategists in the team or Groupe
  • Assist with ad hoc clients/work where necessary
  • New Business:  Assist the Cape Town Media Cluster Lead / Zenith MD with new business pitches
  • Awards:  Work with team to enter a minimum of two awards annually, that warrant winning
  • Submit daily timesheets

Qualifications

Qualifications / Experience / Skills

  • A relevant tertiary qualification Advertising / Digital Marketing
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ experience as a Media Strategist with 2 years in an Advertising Agency
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint)
  • Experience in both TTL & Digital
  • Solid understanding of paid digital media (fully versed and able to present a strategy and flow-plan for digital media)
  • Excellent understanding of TV media strategy / planning principles (these are mandatory)
  • Excellent understanding of all planning and buying processes
  • Social media and tech savvy (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter)
  • A good commend of the English language (both verbal and written)
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills (able to work on more than one brief at any given time)
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Strong presentation skills
