Commerce Director

  • Full-time

Company Description

Commerce is a category full of innovation. With the pace of change across the retail landscape it’s an incredibly exciting time to be working in this industry. All brands have different challenges depending on their distribution models, internal structure or consumer behaviours. The advent of Covid-19 has further accelerated change and our clients are in need of support to adjust their businesses to a more digitally driven commerce environment. Our role in the Publicis Commerce practise is to help brands navigate this complexity and provide incredible consumer experiences that drive genuine commercial growth.

Ultimately all activity that our clients deploy should have a positive impact on sales but focus needs to be placed on dissecting consumer journeys, articulating consumer outcomes and planning accordingly. Exactly how much effort and investment should be spent at each stage of the funnel? Brands that sell direct and own the entire sales funnel will be able to deploy more advanced data and performance marketing strategies. However, if you are a brand that sells indirect through retailers what % of your marketing effort and investment should be set aside to close the sale with retailers and how do you ensure this compliments retailer activity?

There is significant focus within Publicis Groupe to develop a strong commerce proposition which we can take to our existing and prospective clients. There are pockets of expertise within the Groupe and the challenge is formulating what combination of resource is required to deliver on specific client briefs whilst building innovative new go-to-market propositions. This is why the Commerce Practice was launched in March 2018, to serve as a branded wrapper to deliver our strongest commerce assets in each market, whilst ensuring the right level of global consistency. Internally this is about driving capability and up skilling our existing agency brands to ensure over the long term they are effectively consulting with clients to drives sales in the same way they drive reach and other brand metrics.
