Job Description

Overview:

This Content Director (SEO Director, in effect) will be tasked with working across a portfolio of several iconic CPG brands owned by one of the most well-known multinational Fortune 500 organizations in the world. This Director will be managing and mobilizing a team to accomplish a scope covering content, technical optimizations, behavioral analyses, off-page strategies, and creative redesigns. To implement on these workflows, the candidate would benefit from excellent timeline creation and management skills, project planning and resource management experience, as well as the technical understanding of the many moving parts involved in site redesigns and architectural facelifts.

The Content Director will be working with a comprehensive team within Performics, spanning multiple disciplines – client service, technical operations, and content. The Director will have several direct reports, and will be expected to guide the deliverables, quality assurance, and performance of these team members. Additionally, the Director will also be expected to understand the intricacies of our scope, and be able to assign, delegate, and oversee resources within our technical and content disciplines in coordination with said scope.

 

Role Responsibilities: 

Technical

  • Successfully manages a team spanning client activation, content, and technical
  • Works with team to outline effectiveness of team members and clients
  • Creates deliverables and solutions for specific needs in discipline
  • Assumes accountability and ownership of team and recommendations the team makes
  • Works with clients directly/with Content Strategist on specific tasks
  • Creates opportunities and strategies using both qualitative and quantitative sources
  • Experience in using data to identify issues and create clear actions to improve performance and KPIs
  • Expertise of analytic tools to understand data and present areas for improvement
  • Work with account managers to understand specific client needs and helps team achieve deliverable goals
  •  Embraces and encourages a culture based on teamwork, collaboration, and curiosity
  • Deep understanding of redesign operations, wireframing, architectural builds

Copy

  • Supports entire Copy Team with guidance, training, workflow management and project management as needed
  • Works with Activation Team to develop content strategies for various clients as needed
  • Mentors Copywriters, provides training for new hires on platforms, copy best practices and SEO/SEM
  • Provides consistently clean, coherent and engaging on- and offsite copy that adheres to best practices
  • Assumes accountability and ownership of the Copy Team and the recommendations it makes
  • Works with client and/or Activation Team to develop content and keyword strategies that will improve performance across client sites, social media and other platforms
  • Provides thought leadership on keyword research, density, META tags and body copy as well as broader SEO and SEM strategies
  • Deep understanding of how to conduct or interpret content gap analysis, search behavior analyses, and align these with the content needs of our clients 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • 5 - 7 years’ experience with full-cycle SEO operations and client-facing service
  • Experience with managing a team
  • Proficient with online analytics metrics and related statistical concepts
  • Proficient with web analytics platforms such as Omniture, Google Analytics, and Coremetrics
  • Website development/design experience including development of wireframes, redirect mapping
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
  • Analytical and implementation skills
  • Ability to craft persuasive, goal-oriented written communications
  • Online research skills including advanced use of search engines
  • High proficiency level in MS Office products including Excel and Word
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels of staff including senior management
