Job Description

PLEASE NOTE: While NYC is the preferred location, this role can be completely remote for the right candidate. Candidates residing in the Eastern time zone will be given preference.

You will be responsible for the creation of navigation, organization, interaction design, and business/user process engineering for leading-edge responsive web solutions, software, mobile, and other interactive devices. You will apply user-centered design methods to translate user needs, business objectives, and technology capabilities into world-class user experiences for leading companies. You’ll work directly with senior level practitioners and collaborate with various disciplines including visual design, strategy, product, and development teams to drive a point of view for end-user facing solutions. Key Responsibilities

  • Assess existing sites/properties for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, branding, and best practices
  • Plan/lead stakeholder interviews to understand key success factors for a project or pursuit
  • Facilitate participatory design/user testing sessions
  • Identify and document meaningful patterns from user research and UX audit findings
  • Provide recommendations to the client/internal team based on findings
  • Organize opportunities into visually compelling matrices or maps
  • Create comprehensive sitemaps, customer journeys, and process flows for large-scale solutions
  • Develop detailed, annotated wireframes depicting all elements on unique screen types, including content, functional, navigation, and interaction specifications
  • Utilize low-fidelity, medium-fidelity, high-fidelity prototypes across different stages of the design process
  • Identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience
  • Present concepts and deliverables to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Evaluate existing sites in terms of their persuasiveness, emotional design, and conversion; assess properties for usefulness, usability, visual design, content, and branding
  • Help lead participatory design/user testing sessions
  • Identify and document meaningful patterns from the user research, audit the findings; provide recommendations to the client/internal team based on findings
  • Support the development of personas/segmentations based on research findings; integrate personas/segmentations with related deliverables such as opportunity maps and wireframes
  • Prepare, conduct, and analyze behavioral in-context research events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent professional or military experience) with a focus in a design-related discipline including Interaction, Information or Interface design; Human-Computer Interaction; Design Planning; Graphic Design; Communications; etc.
  • 3-4 years of professional experience designing and architecting responsive web user experiences; advertising agency experience is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in working on complex ecomm, transactional flows, conversational interfaces, and/or modular design systems strongly preferred 
  • Prior experience working alongside the travel industry is preferred
  • Skilled in the use of specialized tools such as Sketch, Adobe Photoshop/InDesign, InVision, Principle, Flinto, Visio, and JIRA
  • Well-versed in user-centered design methods and techniques
  • Excellent analytical and process-oriented skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working on multiple concurrent projects
  • Highly collaborative and capable of working across multidisciplinary teams
  • A portfolio showcasing a variety of UX artifacts is required. This portfolio should include wires, flows, personas, journeys/maps, and prototypes.
