Job Description

Overview:

The Senior Copywriter is responsible for analyzing data, providing ongoing copy recommendations, and offering guidance on content marketing best practices. Reporting to the Copy Director, the Senior Copywriter provides thought leadership on search strategies and optimization, develops supportive relationships with Copywriters and Associate Copywriters, and works closely with clients and/or the Activation Team to understand client needs and achieve account goals.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Works with Activation Team to develop content strategies for various clients as needed
  •  Mentors Associate Copywriters and Copywriters, provides guidance and training for new hires as needed
  • Provides consistently clean, coherent and engaging on- and off-site copy that adheres to best practices
  • Works with client and/or Activation Team to develop content and keyword strategies that will improve performance across client sites, social media and other platforms
  • Analyzes data to identify content and keyword ideas according to strategies
  • Provides direction on keyword research, density, META tags and body copy as well as broader content, SEO and SEM strategies
  • Leverages experience with analytical tools to support larger team as well as other Copywriters
  • Works with internal team to identify and implement growth opportunities for new and existing businesses
  • Engages with Copy team and wider Performance Content department stakeholders to identify and implement improvements to agency practices and processes

Qualifications

  • Exceptional and versatile writing skills: able to produce polished, grammatical copy in a variety of voices, from casual to academic, as well as craft coherent, well-structured arguments
  • 3-4 years’ experience with significant writing, research and/or online media components
  • Demonstrated content planning and management experience, such as content calendar creation and maintenance
  • Editorial and/or mentoring experience: ability to contribute to the development of team members’ writing abilities
  • Proficient with online analytics metrics and related statistical concepts
  • Proficient with web analytics platforms such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, and Coremetrics; or search performance platforms like SEMRush, Google Search Console, and Ahrefs.
  • Familiarity with website development/design workflows including development of wireframes, using CSS and HTML
  • Demonstrated problem solving and project management skills
  • Demonstrates analytical and implementation skills
  • Ability to craft persuasive, goal-oriented written communications
  • Thorough online research skills, including advanced use of search engines
