WHAT WE DO

Welcome to Langland. A health communications agency that helps people, brands and businesses think further.

Four disciplines in one

We believe in the power of different perspectives. It’s why we have brought together four key health disciplines – Clinical Trial Experience, Medical Strategy & Education, PR & Policy and Advertising. This close collaboration allows our clients have the very best minds in health caring for the most important parts of their business.

Why think further?

When you’re open to other people’s ideas, you find answers you wouldn’t expect. Our vast experience allows us to pull in the right people at the right moment. It’s why at times we may partner with medics, artists, marketeers or policymakers to help our clients - and our people - get the best results.

A passion for craft

Having expert thinking is only part of our story. Our disciplines are centred around the three essential crafts of science, strategy and creativity to ensure excellence in everything we make.

Job Description

What you will do

At Langland, our Copywriters work collaboratively to deliver a wide range of materials (from brochures to apps) within our Clinical Trial Recruitment team – a specialist area that develops strategies and campaigns to help pharmaceutical companies support patients and healthcare professionals as they progress through clinical trials.

This is an exciting opportunity for a writer to hone his/her/their burgeoning skills as they produce communications to support recruitment and retention for clinical trials – vital scientific studies that help pharmaceutical companies develop new drugs and devices.

The role

The Copywriter role is a mix of copywriting/copyediting, whereby you will be supporting a team of senior writers in the creation of a wide range of materials. As a member of our vibrant, award-winning Creative department, you will be working under the direction of our experienced writers to deliver a variety of materials to regular deadlines. These could include posters, brochures, radio advertisements, animation scripts, film scripts, websites, doctor-to-doctor letters, comic books, presentations for healthcare professionals and content for apps. Really, any type of communication that you could imagine.

Initially, you will mostly take on client amends to existing work. This will help you to understand the need for each of the materials, the tone that they use and the type of language/terminology that we employ. It will also help you to learn how to navigate clinical trial protocols effectively (these are documents that detail how a clinical trial will be run). Once these foundations have been laid, you will begin to write materials from scratch (using existing work for guidance).

Our writers come from a range of backgrounds including science journalism and medical education, and typically have some level of writing experience. As a result there will be ample scope for the Junior/Trainee Writer to learn about the business of writing in an agency environment – whether it’s message-based medical writing or more creative copy that fits with a brand idea.

Who you are

It’s fair to say that we’re pretty picky when it comes to our hires. But for good reason! After all, Langland aims to exceed our clients’ expectations in every way. So it’s only fitting that we look for the most proactive, ambitious individuals, who thrive on high performance.

Candidates are expected to ideally have an undergraduate degree relevant to the position plus writing experience (either gained since graduating, or through student journalism or a similar activity). We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates whose work experience includes daily exposure to writing accurately to deadlines and candidates familiar with scientific/healthcare information and prose.
