Salterbaxter has offices in London and New York and is owned by Publicis Group. The North America team is a small team in a growing market working closely with the UK business at all levels.

Job Description

Our award-winning reporting team work with clients at the intersection of corporate reporting, digital communications, corporate purpose and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) issues. We provide end-to-end services across annual, integrated and sustainability / ESG reporting and to clients across a range of sectors

This role will be a key new addition to our reporting team working closely alongside our Head of Reporting and Group Client Director.

An experienced and knowledgeable sustainability / ESG reporting consultant (Director level) who offers advice and counsel across the range of complex challenges our UK/European reporting clients face and oversees the delivery of high quality work and deliverables. This person will play an important role in driving client development, new business and marketing on sustainability / ESG reporting alongside our Head of Reporting and Group Client Director.

Project Delivery and Client management

Core

  • Able to bring expert knowledge across a range of different sustainability issues and corresponding KPIs and management approaches
  • Able to help clients develop and execute strategies to enhance their reporting against sustainability-related reporting and disclosure frameworks / voluntary standards and ratings and rankings in particular GRI, TCFD, and CDP
  • Able to advise clients on the current and upcoming trends and developments shaping the sustainability / non-financial disclosure landscape – and the organisations driving this agenda (across NGOs, IGOs, ESG ratings and rankings, investor-led coalitions etc...)
  • Confident at facilitating workshops, leading meetings and engaging with senior client representatives
  • Working closely and collaboratively with the client partnership function (led by our Group Client Director), playing an active role in client development

Additional

  • Beyond disclosure able to demonstrate a good knowledge of wider sustainability / ESG reporting trends when it comes to the different types of approach that best practice companies are applying to communicate the right information, in the right ways and in the rights places to different stakeholders (formats, channels, structuring and storytelling techniques, digital, audience engagement techniques)
  • Can effectively co-manage large complex sustainability / ESG reporting projects (usually in collaboration with Account Managers) from reporting strategy, pagination and content planning through subsequent content gathering, drafting, design and production working closely with account managers, copywriters, creatives, artworkers / production teams.

Business Development

  • Co-lead (alongside our Head of Reporting, and Group Client Director), contribute to and oversee Salterbaxter’s new business development for reporting
  • Develop and lead pitch responses, collaborating to understand what the client will buy and delivering pitch outputs to a consistently high quality
  • Actively evolve and improve reporting pitch processes and teams to help improve and/or maintain a high strike rate

Team and Line Management

  • Responsible for line management of reporting consultant – developing annual objectives, identifying training needs, providing ad-hoc support, and conducting and overseeing appraisals
  • In conjunction with Group Client Director and Account Managers, oversee the financial health of all accounts
  • Play an active role in building technical disclosure knowledge across the reporting team over time – through lunch and learns and “on-project” interactions

Qualifications

  • Progressive sustainability consulting experience in reporting, with demonstrable exposure to large and complex reporting assignments
  • Evidence of strong working knowledge of delivering disclosures against GRI, TCFD, and CDP (and preferably SASB)
  • Good overview knowledge of well-known ratings and rankings (in addition to CDP) preferable – e.g. ISS, MSCI, Sustainalytics, DJSI, Vigeo.
  • May bring a specialism in a particular sector but must demonstrate working experience on reporting assignments across a range of different sectors
  • A formal qualification in a related sustainability field alongside agency/consultancy experience preferable
  • Must have experience in meeting stretching financial targets across revenue, business development and profit margin
  • Experience in assurance including the verification of quantitative and qualitative sustainability information would be a bonus
