Job Description

The Director, Platform Media is responsible for leading the planning, execution, optimization and evolution of biddable media for an enterprise client..  This person oversees a team of channel experts and collaborate to build innovative and integrated media plans that meet client objectives and drive campaign innovation. This is a cross functional role that requires strong collaboration and communication skills.

In this role, He/She represents the client leadership team and partners with client leadership to drive client results, satisfaction, and growth.  This individual also represents the leadership of search, programmatic and social on assigned accounts and act as an extension of leadership, bringing subject matter expertise to our clients on a daily basis.  

The Director of Platform Media is responsible for the day to day management of the platform buying teams dedicated to their business and collaborates with discipline leads to create a growth and development plans for the individuals on their team.  Operationally, this person partners with the discipline leads to ensure that proper staffing is in place to support the business, and manages scope creep, and identifies upsell opportunities.  Finally, this individual works with peers and the Chief Digital Officer to evolve agency offerings and go to market strategies.

Knowledge:

·         Expert knowledge of biddable media with channel expertise in one or more biddable channels

·         Strong understanding of the evolving data landscape

·         Experience in data segmentation and targeting

·         Proven experience in planning and executing biddable campaigns

·         Experience leading large teams

·         Experience managing client relationships

·         Ability to translate campaign results into insights and optimization opportunities

·         Pharmaceutical knowledge a plus

Essential Duties and Role Responsibilities:

Strategic Alignment

·         Coordinates with channel leads to identify total opportunity and investment recommendation

·         Partners with client channel leads to develop a cohesive consistent audience focused plan

·         Coordinates plan integration with media leaders and channel leads

·         Develops a cohesive approach to audience targeting cross platform

·         Assists team in articulating insights and learnings from campaigns and platform tools

·         Ensures test and learn plans are in place

·         Supports channel leads in client communication

Execution

·         Coordinates with channel leads to ensure flawless campaign launches

·         Ensures QA process is followed across all channels

·         Actively participates in reviewing budget pacing and performance

·         Ensures channel leaders have a strong optimization plan

·         Helps progress and evolve in channel test and learn plans

·         Coordinates cross channel collaboration meetings

·         Leads cross channel test and learn plans

·         Lead cross channel and in channel media efficiency reporting

Innovation

·         Builds a culture of sharing and ideation within the team that drives innovation within campaign execution and cross channel connectivity

·         Fosters a culture of curiosity focused on test and learn in order to build our approach to cross channel connectivity

·         Shares learnings with larger platform team to accelerate our evolution in platform activation across the agency

·         Leads or contributes to cross platform evolution and goal workstreams

Operations

·         Coordinates with channel leaders to scope teams based on client needs

·         Keep pulse on ad hoc requests and scope creep to ensure team isn’t over delivering or over burdened

·         Ensures monthly actualization is completed

·         Reviews hours submissions and burn reports

·         Helps assist with optimization of the regulatory guidance process

·         Coordinates client or brand onboarding

People Development

·         Participate in interview process for new employees

·         Communicate improvement opportunities in-moment

·         Celebrate and communicate an individuals success

·         Help identify proper training needed for development      

Business Planning & Growth

·         Works with Channel Leads to plot campaigns on maturity curve

·         Ensures channel campaign evolution plans are in place to evolve campaigns and move them along the maturity curve

·         Coordinates annual internal business review with PHM leadership to discuss channel and campaign SWOT

·         Identifies organic growth opportunities

·         Manages scope creep and ensures SOWs are written for new services

Notable Milestones:

·         Drive organic growth within client business

·         Move clients along the campaign maturity curve for search, programmatic and social

·         Plan and execute case study worthy work

·         Contribute to the evolution of the role and the goal workstream for Platform media

Qualifications

·         B.S. or MBA, preferably in Marketing or Advertising

·         8+ years in digital media or account planning, with special emphasis on planning and creating insights

·         3+ years with increasing responsibility within an agency or media company

·         3+ year of experience managing a diverse team

·         Expertise in the biddable media landscape with hands on experience

·         Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills

·         Intelligent, entrepreneurial type with strong interpersonal skills and work ethic

·         Ability to lead projects independently from start to finish

·         Collaboration with internal and external teams to make decisions and maintain forward momentum

·         In-depth understanding of digital advertising landscape from either media planning and/or sales planner perspective

·         High competency level in MS Office products; demonstrated advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

·         Excellent time management / project management skills, with ability to manage detail work and communicate project status effectively to all levels

·         Proven ability to successfully lead people (mentoring and developing) and projects

·         Ability to anticipate problems before they happen and plan accordingly

·         Strong knowledge of external media marketplace
