Epsilon is a leading provider of multi-channel marketing services, technologies and database solutions. A subsidiary of Publicis Groupe, Seeking a highly motivated and well-rounded MySQL DBA with a strong database administration background to be part of a fast-paced production support and full life cycle implementation team.

What you’ll do

Candidate is expected to be familiar with database architecture, logical and physical design, automation, documentation, installs, shell scripting, PL/SQL programming, backup and recovery concepts, database performance and tuning. Candidate must have good analytical, verbal and written skills.

  • We are looking for an experienced MySQL database administrator who will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability and security of clusters of MySQL instances 
  • Proficiency in MySQL database management
  • Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations and backup/recovery procedures
  • Ensure performance, security and availability of databases
  • Prepare documentations and specifications
  • Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL (MySQL 5.7, MySQL 8.0)  and forks of MySQL (Percona, MariaDB)
  • Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
  • Estimate MySQL database capacities; develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage
  • Experience with replication configuration in MySQL
  • Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
  • Knowledge in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • Knowledge on Galera cluster, Percona cluster and Percona toolkits
  • On call and rotational shift availability
  • Advance Shell/Python/Perl Scripting knowledge

Qualifications

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or equivalent with demonstrable experience as a DBA
  • Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience as a DBA
  • Decent experience with recent versions of MySQL, Percona and MariaDB
  • Understanding of MySQL's underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
  • Experience with replication configuration in MySQL and Percona
  • Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL.
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database physical design
  • Demonstrated experience with relational database performance tuning and capacity planning especially on MySQL based environments
  • Strong proficiency in MySQL database management
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • Ability to plan resource requirements from high level specifications
  • Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools.
