Job Description

The Analytic Consulting Group partners with internal and external clients and data providers, leveraging predictive analytics, Data Sciences and advanced statistical techniques to drive strategic thought and effective decision making. The Director – Automotive Retail Analytics and Decision Sciences may directly or indirectly plan, manage or lead the activities of teams of analysts, statisticians and Decision Scientists to deliver advanced statistical solutions in support of the Target Retail product.


The Candidate Should Have a Solid Foundation In Computer Science, Statistics/Math as well as Decision/Data Science With Well-honed Skills In The Following Areas
This position requires an individual with a combination of strategic, computational and analytical skills, including:

· Relationship Marketing Analytics

· Automotive Retail Analytics

· Retail Marketing Decision Sciences Strategy

· Data Management

· Experience with both structured and unstructured data

· Ability to identify, join, explore and examine data from multiple disparate sources and formats

· Ability to reduce large quantities of unstructured or formless data and get it into a form in which it can be analyzed

· Ability to deal with data imperfections such as missing values, outliers, inconsistent formatting, etc.

Statistics & Modeling

· Knowledge of statistical theories and techniques commonly used in prediction and optimization models

· Ability and desire to go beneath the surface of a problem and distill it into a clear set of hypotheses that can be tested

· Experience in the design, planning, and management of projects from start to finish, producing data-driven outcomes with appropriate techniques to address business questions

· Mastery of statistical programming languages such as R and Python

Machine Learning

· Experience with machine learning algorithms, such as k-nearest neighbors, random forests and ensemble methods and their corresponding implementation packages in R or Python

· Understanding when it is appropriate to use different techniques

· Experience with distributed computing or related technologies

 

Software Development

· Prior experience and/or comfort with techniques in code development in programming languages such as SAS, Java, R, and Python

· Capable of developing prototypes and fashion their own tools to conduct analytic research

Stakeholder Management Skills

·   Experience working in a matrixed organization supporting multiple stakeholders across multiple organizations

·   Ability to craft a story and influence decision making amongst stakeholders with varied points of view on solution development

·   Comfort both leading teams and performing in an individual contributor role

 

Responsibilities May Include:

·       Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the business situation and develop both data driven insights as well as a decision sciences strategy that can be understood and implemented to drive marketing strategies

  • Perform ad hoc analysis of relationship marketing campaign results to answer client questions and identify optimization opportunities
  • Design business rules (e.g., targeting, timing, data flows) for new data-driven relationship marketing camapigns
  • Align to the overall business strategy when guiding the direction of projects, and processes
  • Manage ongoing delivery of weekly/monthly campaign reporting dashboards; iteratively improve and automate these deliverables
  • Develop project requirements, analytic and decision sciences plans, SOWs, project timelines, and other related materials for the management of deliverables
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all phases of analytic and decision sciences work; from problem definition to presentation of results
  • Account for the overall management of projects; including profitability, timeliness, quality and client value
  • Formulate insights, championing and driving insights into action
  • Create compelling presentations that provide actionable insights and recommendations
  • Provide overall direction to the development of advanced analytic and data science solutions and strategies in support of both the product management team as well as clients
  • Explore and capitalize on opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell the solution
  • Support the sales process by assessing business needs and crafting and presenting proposals that meet those needs
  • Provide developmental and managerial leadership to the Analytic Consulting Group
  • Enhance internal relationships to ensure the objectives of our clients are being met
  • Communicate and engage with key internal business partners and Epsilon clients to collaboratively solve business problems

 

Qualifications

· Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in Statistics, Computer Science, Decision Sciences or other quantitative discipline

· Minimum of 8 years of related experience (Automotive dealer product analytics, relationship marketing analytics, and data/decision sciences)

· Minimum 3 years proven managerial or supervisory experience

· Solid planning, priority setting, and project management skills with experience managing multiple projects and resources concurrently

· Excellent verbal and written communications skills and good at developing relationships across diverse teams, including marketing and account teams

· Mastery of various statistical methodologies such as regression analysis (linear and non-linear), cluster analysis, CHAID, time series, survival models

· Experience with machine learning

· Experience with Base SAS and SQL

· Proficiency in at least one open source statistical program like R and KNime

· Working knowledge of Hadoop and other big data technologies

· Strong understanding of Statistics and modeling techniques

· Strong analytic thought process and ability to interpret findings

· Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently

 

In addition, the candidate should have strong business acumen, and interpersonal and communication skills, yet also be able to work independently. He/she should be able to communicate findings and the way techniques work in a manner that all stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, will understand
