Job Description

The Director– Data Science would provide thought leadership and delivery leadership for advanced analytics, machine learning and deep learning client engagements of Epsilon’s PeopleCloud analytics practice. This role requires a good combination of solid hands-on technical expertise in advanced analytics and managing a team of data science professionals. He / She would be partnering with various internal (product, offerings and client delivery) and external (clients) stakeholders and would report to VP – Strategy and Analytics at Epsilon India office in Bangalore. Their key responsibilities would involve them to:

  • Provide thought leadership in leveraging advanced analytics across the Epsilon PeopleCloud organization
  • Lead and manage the delivery of advanced analytics, machine learning and deep learning client engagements working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop bespoke / custom analytics solutions for special client requirements
  • Develop new / innovative productized analytics offerings that can be taken to the market by our sales teams
  • Provide algorithm guidance and advisory to the analytics productization team
  • Manage a team of data scientists, statisticians and guide their training, career path and be accountable for high level of team engagement and retention

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in a quantitative discipline
  • A minimum of 18 years’ professional hands-on experience with statistical modeling, data mining, and advanced segmentation using large marketing databases
  • A minimum of 8 years proven managerial or supervisory experience
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in global delivery of services to Fortune 500 organizations
  • Proven experience managing and delivering a wide variety of analytic solutions to internal and external stakeholders
  • Solid planning, priority setting, and project management skills with experience managing multiple projects and resources concurrently
  • Proven experience influencing a business or marketing strategy through the application and/or management of advanced statistical techniques and data driven solutions
  • Strong understanding of consumer behavior and marketing analytics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and good at developing relationships across diverse teams (including statistical, technical, and marketing resources)
  • Strong technical skills

Desirable:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s/PhD) in Statistics, Economics or other quantitative discipline
  • Hands-on programming experience in R, Python, SQL, Scala, TensorFlow and other open source ML libraries; Solid understanding of Deep learning, Graph programming and Recommendation systems
  • Marketing domain experience/knowledge; Digital analytics experience; Loyalty domain experience is nice to have
  • Experience in application of Data Science / ML for direct marketing or personalization use cases
  • Demonstrate superior leadership to the broader business and internal team
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
