Job Description

We are looking for a Strategy Director for one of our largest clients in the Publicis Groupe. This person will lead a team that focuses on a linesof business within the client portfolio and is serviced through multiple agencies in the Groupe in order to bring our client excellence in strategic thinking and strategic deliverables through the tenets of Customer Intelligence, Brand Intelligence, and Business Intelligence. We see strategy as the epicenter of all of the different ways we serve the client in creative, media, data, and technology – and combining these tenets should lead to breakthrough insights, experiences, and activations. This person needs to understand all of the different aspects of marketing, and how it impacts business through effectiveness. We’re looking for a player/coach, who can pull the best out of their team but also go heads down with us in doing what needs to be done. 

Client Strategy & Delivery

• Optimize annual strategic planning process

• Drive a spirit over-delivery, excellence, and ‘Done +1’ in all strategic deliverables including: data supported insights, creative briefs, communications planning, media strategy, consumer experience systems, customer journeys, research plans, competitive assessments, and measurement planning/ hypothesis testing

• Be the ‘product’ leader for the cross-agency teams in terms of how deliverables are shaped and stories that are told in them within the line of business you’re assigned to.

• Establish a leading POV in the marketplace on transformational business strategy, and the interconnectedness of customer experience, marketing, and digital technologies

• Develop, lead, and participate in client workshops 

• Have a strong bias towards effectiveness in communications and experiences and help guide a highly matrixed organization to better collaboration and integration

 

 

Leadership

• Mentor and lead your team of strategic planners.

• Lead interdependent delivery with staff from several different agency brands within the Publicis Groupe

• Push team for deep use of craft and unique ability to impress the client in every single interaction

• Lead by ‘doing’ and ‘showing’, rolling up your sleeves – this is not a role for a passive leader

• Take a deep, vested interest in the careers of your team and helping them achieve rapid growth

 

Internal Strategy & Operations 

• Assist the Global Client Leader /Strategy Leader and senior leadership team in defining and refining the business strategy and operating framework for the client.

• Facilitate communication of the operating strategy, long-term vision, and underlying business logic within and across agency brands within the Publicis Groupe.

• Support and help lead transformational initiatives within the existing client’s business and new opportunities, which may include formation/incubation of new businesses, identification/implementation of new strategic partnerships, and organizational design and governance 

• Define, activate, and help lead initiatives critical to achieving business objectives; work with leadership teams to ensure strategic alignment and effective execution of strategy

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required and a minimum of 15+ years of relevant agency or professional services experience required

• An ‘H’ shaped individual with significant experience in at least two of the fields (if not more) from: brand planning, experience strategy/XD, communications planning, media strategy, consulting, digital strategy, marketing, and data science

• Broad, deep, and current knowledge of marketing effectiveness and business strategy

• Demonstrated experience presenting to C-Suite and Board level audiences

• Visionary and Strategic thinking skills – great at seeing patterns and connecting the dots

• Strong quantitative analysis skills: ability to use industry analysis, financial forecasting, business model evaluation, scenario analysis, and other forms of data-intensive financial modeling to derive strategic insight and inform executive decision-making 

• Experience in qualitative research methods and creative evaluation

• A deep appreciation for the power of creative, and a desire (if not demonstration) of being a part of award-winning work

• An endless curiosity and someone who doesn’t believe in one way, but has a deep toolset of differing methods and approaches

• Excellent manager with at least 7+ years of an established pattern of success in managing talent

• Experience working with clients who have complex, global businesses

• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
