Job Description

The Analyst, Research & Insights role supports our planning and activation product for our agency teams and clients.   This role provides media, consumer and marketplace insight across traditional and all forms of digital media and across a diverse mix of consumer segments and product categories.   The Associate is responsible for collecting, analyzing and summarizing research, industry and client business data for ongoing and ad-hoc projects for the agency, clients and the business development team.   This position provides an opportunity for continued learning and development across the media/marketing research spectrum.   This role also affords the opportunity to provide thoughtful perspectives and meaningful insights to our teams through applying a combination of syndicated, proprietary and primary research tools and data to inform and elevate our agency product.

Key Responsibilities

·       Help manage day-to-day questions and projects within MediaVest, with guidance from supervisors.  Embrace   opportunities for project management/ownership as well as seeking growth/continual learning opportunities across a diverse mix of media, consumer segments and product categories

·       Build on strong foundational knowledge and develop higher-level proficiency across all key syndicated media data/research and systems (such as Nielsen, comScore, MRI, IMS, etc.), and their methodologies.   Become an internal knowledge expert on syndicated resources, by staying informed regarding ongoing changes and enhancements resources and actively communicating these changes & updates to our teams and stakeholders

·       Learn basic and advanced media fundamentals and best practices across all media and marketing channels, including TV, digital, mobile, social, print, audio and OOH.  Become a resource to internal groups on how to best apply research to specific client needs across media, marketplaces and consumer segments

·       Become proficient with all agency proprietary and primary research tools & techniques that span consumer insights, targeting, ad effectiveness studies, social listening, media optimization, etc. 

·       Proactively assist internal groups in maximizing the use of available research sources and proprietary studies.  Gather, develop and format various data for special reports and analyses.  Develop relationships with research vendors and all MediaVest departments.  Proactively offer recommendations to enhance internal & external systems/processes.

·       Contribute to team projects and agency knowledge management through regular sharing and internal communications with our teams.  Be involved in writing, publishing, and distributing internal communications, updates, etc. and support agency knowledge sharing initiatives

·       Coordinate, support and take on a prominent role on agency training sessions for research vendors and proprietary tools.   This includes assisting in the development of training and support materials, develop training materials, and provide ad-hoc support to our teams 

·       Gather media marketplace, trends and technology information from industry journals, articles, case studies and/or internal agency presentations and compile them in meaningful, understandable manner to keep our teams and clients up-to-date

·       Compile, analyze and create presentations and reports using data from syndicated and proprietary research as directed; help turn data analyses into understanding and insight by identifying and articulating key takeaways

·       Provide support for agency new business initiatives as they arise, including marketplace intelligence, consumer insights, data analysis, and media optimizations

Qualifications

·       1+ years of advertising, media or research-related experience

·       Bachelor’s degree or higher in any major, preferably in advertising, marketing or communications

·       Working knowledge of media / advertising research terminology, media math, and experience with core syndicated media research tools is preferred (e.g. Nielsen, comScore, IMS, MRI, Simmons, etc)

·       Strong interest in media, advertising and research.  Passion for understanding consumers, media and technology trends, and interest in working across a diverse set of client categories.   

·       Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint and Word; need to feel comfortable working on a computer and learning new computer systems

·       Strong analytical skills and detail orientation; need to possess a reasonable knowledge of math and comfortable working with numbers and data

·       Must be resourceful, collaborative and willing to voice ideas/suggestions; must also be able to work semi-independently (with guidance from supervisors)

·       Team player with strong multi-tasking, problem solving, and time-management abilities

·       Solid writing and communication skills; including business communications, people and process management skills (pre-planning, follow ups, etc)

·       Commitment to learning and career growth and a desire to participate in agency training and development programs
