Job Description

Owing to a demand for more editorial work from our clients and a flourishing editorial team, we are now looking to hire a Senior Medical Writer for our London office. In this role you’ll be the main writer on at least two key accounts and have a supporting role on others. You will be responsible for managing more junior writers.

We’re looking for a proactive person who is able to drive their own editorial projects within the integrated account team. You’ll have a strong writing background and be looking for a role where you can provide expert editorial and scientific guidance to more junior writers, the account handling team and of course our clients. You’ll also play a key role in nurturing and expanding current business relationships so having a creative outlook and willingness to sensitively challenge the status quo would be a bonus.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects across the full spectrum of medical communications activities, including congress activities, training materials, websites and digital apps. Close links with our sister agencies (including those specializing in advertising and PR) provide avenues for cross-functional working and afford our team with exposure to different ways of thinking to enhance our medical communications offerings. Our main therapy areas are currently oncology, dermatology, CNS disorders and addiction medicine but new business wins will almost certainly provide an opportunity to work in other areas.

This is a pivotal role, working with the senior stakeholders of the Real Science business and the wider Publicis Health businesses. With support from a hardy senior management team, comprising the business unit director, a director, two associate directors and two scientific directors, you’ll be responsible for maintaining high editorial and scientific standards, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Ideally you’ll have worked within an agency comparable to Real Science.
  • You will have solid medical writing skills and experience, as you will be responsible not only for the quality of your own editorial work but for providing advice and guidance to other writers and the wider agency.
  • You should have client-facing experience and be comfortable developing and maintaining client relationships.
  • You should hold a bachelor’s degree ideally in the life sciences possibly also with a Master’s degree or a PhD.
  • Ideally you will be office based but we are flexible and allow some home working where possible.
