Job Description

VP, STRATEGY

Overview:  Generate strategic media initiatives and lead all aspects of media planning for clients or products.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and executing strategy to define the future direction of account
  • Resource for others in defining high level strategy for subsidiaries/business unit
  • Responsible for designing and managing projects and resources for subsidiaries/business unit
  • Oversee local media plan development and take strategic lead on plans for specified group/account
  • Team leader for client interaction fostering positive relationships
  • Identifies key target insights based on client brief necessary for formulating communication strategy
  • Evaluates composition of a wide range of media vehicles to determine which would most effectively reach the target audience 
  • Effectively communicates and solicits agreement of best opportunities for clients
  • Supervising, training and developing staff (managing workload, delegating responsibilities and checking work for accuracy, performance management)
  • Providing staffing recommendation and daily supervision to all accounts
  • Directs the long range planning and development of programs to ensure best use of organizational resources
  • Serves as leadership and content development coordinator for all client presentations
  • Participates in new business efforts including development of new business opportunities and new business pitches
  • Responsible for long range strategic vision for industry and how it applies to clients’ needs
  • Ability to cross sell interagency products and services
  • Participation in special projects involving cross department team development and leadership 
  • Work with the Consumer Insights and research teams to identify and deliver key learning opportunities for client
  • Serves as key Resource for others in defining high level strategy for subsidiaries/business unit

Management/Supervisory 

  • Number of Direct Reports: up to 10

Communicates With: 

Internal: Partners with other Strategy members, Strategic Resources, Activation Partners, Finance and Human Resources 

External: Significant Client and Vendor interaction and accountability

 

Budgetary Responsibilities:

Responsible for budgeting, controlling costs, planning and scheduling around cost concerns for business unit

 

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree 10+ years media planning experience 
  • Progressively responsible experience in people management and leadership

 

Business Competencies: 

  • Fluency with Media Tools and solid understanding of Digital Planning tools
  • Work with internal research team to develop learning plans for client
  • Develop, implement and execute strategy to define future direction business unit 
  • Guide others in defining high level strategy for business unit
  • Plan, conduct, assign and meet obligations for business unit
  • Design and manage projects, resources, stakeholders, participants and deadlines for business unit
  • Develop and learn advanced skills in area of specialization
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring of employees within business unit
  • Manage a budget, control costs, plan and schedule around cost concerns for business unit
  • Manage multiple segments and functional areas for business unit
  • Able to direct long range planning and the development of programs to maximize organizational resources
