Job Description

What You’ll Do:
At Starcom, the SVP, Director of  Investment leads investment, activation, and portfolio management across all media channels.  Providing consistent leadership by bringing new ideas, innovations and opportunities to the client on a frequent and regular basis.  Critical to this position is the ability to develop go to market strategy, recommendations and POV's while providing effective leadership of upfront negotiations and creating strong vendor relationships. 
 
What You’ll Do

  • Own client relationship and education relating to media investment across all channels 
  • Provide counsel on marketplace trends and investment expertise for clients and client teams. Be a thought leader in alternative buying models and integrated projects.  
  • Maintain, develop and grow relationships with appropriate client level contacts
  • Inject ideas, innovation and leading industry developments into every assignment, including day-to-day client communications
  • Consistently drive the use of analytics to inform/validate investment strategies, tactical planning and on-going optimizations across all media
  • Lead the collaborative reporting process with creative partner agencies, ensuring insights are meaningful, actionable and followed-through
  • Strategically develop campaigns from audience determination, through how to best flight and execute campaigns to align with clients strategic goals and KPIs
  • Manage negotiation and implementation of added value inventory, research partnerships and custom sponsorship elements when applicable
  • Strong and proven ability to trouble-shoot and quickly problem solve campaign management issues as they arise, as well as effectively partner with strategy directors to appropriately communicate issues with clients
  • Consistently drive the use of analytics to inform/validate investment strategies, tactical planning and on-going optimizations across all media
     

Qualifications

Who You Are

  • You have a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications preferred. If you have an MBA, that’s an added bonus. You have been working in media planning, buying (Digital AND traditional) and management for 10+ years with progressive levels of responsibility.
  • You are a negotiator, and beyond pricing, you understand how to add incremental value without compromising communication needs.
  • You know how to package, merchandise, and sell in concepts and new opportunities. You’ve led clients through your buying strategies and wins.
  • You think strategically. You take into account the bigger picture. You analyze everything and think critically when solving problems to come up with unconventional solutions.
  • You’ve lead a team before. You know what it takes to manage a group, even when a lot of moving parts are involved. Not only can you take care of the day-to-day part of overseeing others, but you are good at helping them grow and realizing their potential.
  • You build great relationships with clients, vendors, and reps. You have a history negotiating to get the job done right and track record of success in media. You understand business and have a knack for sharing complicated ideas in a simple, understandable way.
