Job Description

The Media Planner will be responsible for planning, negotiating and executing digital and traditional media plans.  The ideal candidate must be able to manage day-to-day planning and analysis while maintaining strong relationships with publishers and partner agencies.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in media strategy development for top tier clients

  • Develop and manage digital, local tv & print media plans; negotiate and purchase media

  • Effectively present media recommendations with sound rationale

  • Manage the day-to-day implementation and optimization of campaign activities

  • Manage campaign authorizations, budgets and reconciliation process

  • Interact and maintain positive rapport with media publishers

  • Analyze research data and media/marketing information; issue and report information to clients

  • Monitor and assess ongoing campaign performance; assist in strategic analysis of campaigns

  • Delegate to and work with Assistant Media Planner on daily tasks

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

 

  • Must be a self-starter, with strong planning and organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal direction

  • Strong written, verbal communication and negotiation skills.  Good presentation skills a plus

  • Strong time-management and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with colleagues and vendors

  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities, duties and/or projects.  Proven ability to accommodate evolving responsibilities and last minute changes

  • Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to generate innovative solutions

 

 

TRAVEL/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor degree in related field or equivalent work experience

  • 2 - 4 years experience in a jr. level media planning/buying position

  • Working knowledge of third party marketing research: KANTAR, GFK MRI, eMarketer, Mintel, comScore, Mediaocean, Iconoculture and others

  • Experience with digital campaign management/ad serving technology (i.e. Double Click DART, Atlas DMT, IAS)

  • Required PC proficiency and solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 

  • Experience analyzing data and market research

  • Familiarity with basic accounting/math principles; basic statistical analysis experience is a plus

 

REPORTS TO

  • Senior Media Planner or Media Supervisor
  • This position may have direct reports and indirect reports
