Job Description

Summary of the role:

This is a newly created role within Starcom New Zealand to reflect the profile of the agency client portfolio and to bring cohesive leadership across our digital performance channels for both those clients businesses and our internal teams.  Each of the vertical teams are staffed by talent team members who are experts, with varying degrees of experience, in their own right.  The role will be based in Auckland but will be responsible for our national offering including the Wellington office.

  • Through digital media & platform knowledge, to ensure that Starcom is a valued business partner for our clients and actively contributing to their continued success. 
  • Keep abreast of our clients’ digital needs and proactively develop solutions to grow their business so that the client’s ultimate outcome is central to the digital media services that Starcom deliver.
  • Ensure that the agency keeps pace with the market and Publicis Media network developments. 
  • Develop clear strategies and executional plans, in conjunction with the Group Business Director (GBD), across performance channels to deliver the overall client business requirements.  This will include discussing the use of technology and integrating customer data into future activity.
  • Be the leader for Starcom’s Precision and Search teams (SEM/SEO) to deliver a fully integrated digital offering and solution, this will include looking at cohesive cross channel measurement and KPIs.  Where appropriate this would involve working in partnership with your counterpart in Zenith to deliver a PM NZ perspective.
  • Deliver strong digital media solutions through the setting of digital media objectives, consumer target analysis, historical analysis of previous campaigns; digital media mix selection and rationale for that selection, media scheduling guidelines, allocation of appropriate media budgets, and portfolio management.
  • Manage the relationship with key digital media partners on behalf of the agency and our clients to ensure that we are extracting the full value from our investment.
  • Be responsible for the financial accuracy and robustness of media plans and the media buying process – to ensure that the agency is fully compliant with
  • Own the overall responsibility of the client’s budgeting, ad serving, reporting & optimisation of all performance media activity

Talent and Team leadership

  • Established as a clear leader and role model for each of the performance teams, with your approach, commitment and passion for the business and potential in the future. 
  • Ensure each of the team members have a clear learning and development plan, which is tracked versus the
  • Tap into all capability resources – internal and external – to keep the digital performance team on a continuous learning curve in both digital and broader communication approaches. This will be by forming a strong working relationship with the GBD’s.
  • Be the performance team’s representative on the leadership team to ensure that their voice is integrated into the agency future direction.  Work in partnership with Zenith to create a PM level view.
  • Drive the growth and development of digital talent & expertise to ensure the wider Starcom team is knowledgeable and capable in all aspects of digital planning and implementation.

  • Harness and deliver the combined intellectual capital of our tools, systems, processes, partnerships and methods to deliver the best possible client outcome.
  • Ensure that the digital product is capitalising on market-leading research, and best practice planning, monitoring and reporting techniques.
  • Tap into all possible ANZ (& wider) Starcom Digital’s resources to ensure clients are exposed to our best thinking and practice from around the world.
  • Use global channels to extract relevant information, ideas and learning, and clearly communicating these internally and with clients.
  • Provide digital training and assistance to junior and new staff. 
  • Provide regular markets updates and media training services to the client.
  • Involvement in key strategic projects as they arise that will contribute to the business development and thinking.

Qualifications

Technical skills:

  • Thorough understanding of the digital media environment in New Zealand including the industry’s digital operations and execution parameters (from adserving to reporting)
  • Experience in working directly (or indirectly) with display, social, programmatic, SEM & SEO and associated delivery platforms.
  • Detailed understanding of the agency and media partner’s media systems to ensure that we are extracting full value from each.
  • Ensure that we can offer all network services in data integration, attribution, dashboarding and dynamic creative.  Direct experience preferred for these.
