Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our development team to support and deliver on our operations and research in a growing range of machine learning applications.
As a data engineer you will be part of a team responsible for the development and overall delivery of our new big data analytics platform. In particular, you will be designing, building, and maintaining big data infrastructures. You should have a keen eye for details and an analytical mind.
The role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and to work on a wide variety of technologies including programming, relational and un-structured databases, cloud infrastructures, and visualization tools. You will develop deep domain expertise and generate key insights that influence business decisions and technological solutions. You will be a self-starter, have a natural curiosity and a desire to learn.

Team Department/Profile
The team is a diverse group of machine learning, AI, NLP and other data science experts. We work closely with the core businesses to conceive and produce innovative data applications, creating value for the group and potentially disrupting current processes and business models.
We work directly with various business units across the entire group and work with stakeholders to identify and understand problems, propose solutions, and then deliver those solutions to a production standard within mission critical environments.


Key Responsibilities
•    Working with product owners, analysts and data scientists to develop, build and improve ETL and data insight pipelines
•    Leading rapid and smooth transition of algorithms and processes developed by other parts of the organisation to production
•    Initiating, managing, and conducting research projects, working independently, but in close collaboration with junior and senior team members
•    Working with new and emerging languages and technologies 

•    Supporting internal and external clients
•    Defining data retention policies

Qualifications

•    Masters, or equivalent experience in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) science
•    Proven track record of programming experience in python/R
•    Knowledge of data analysis, visualization techniques, and frameworks
•    Experience with development best practices such as source control, continuous integration, unit testing, design patterns, and agile development methodologies
•    Documented experience of cloud-based technologies such as Windows Azure, AWS and/or GCP
•    To be able to assist in documenting requirements as well as resolve conflicts or ambiguities.
•    Experience with relational and non-relational databases
•    Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
•    Provide secure public-facing access to modelling solutions via REST APIs
•    Experience of marketing and advertisement is not required, but you are expected to learn and understand the business logic behind the numbers, aiding developers and analysts to produce insights for clients
•    Understanding of web analytics, UI, and UX 

•    Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools
