Job Description

The Team/Department Profile

Spark Foundry’s planning department is the heart of the agency – in terms of its function, its people and its location.  We are diverse in our experience, personalities, nationalities and the clients we look after - and we celebrate that diversity.

The Clients

The Brown Forman relationship with Spark is in its 4th year and it is a Global client. Their flagship brand, or ‘beating heart’ as they call it, is of course, Jack Daniels. JD continues to be the UK’s biggest selling Whiskey by some distance. Jack and Coke is the UK’s 2nd most popular bar call. As well as their classic Tennessee Whisky, we also do work for their Honey and Fire flavoured whiskies. Over and above Jack Daniels, Brown Forman cover a range of different brands. Woodford Reserve is a high quality Bourbon and they have recently acquired 3 Scotch Whiskey brands. Chambord has been a huge success story in recent years. In short, they have a number of exciting brands in an exciting category.

Marriott was a recent Global win for the business so this represents a great opportunity to help cement a new piece of business and create a positive impression with a new client. The business was a ‘Power of One’ win, meaning work is spread across multiple Publicis agencies. In this case, broadly speaking Digitas handle the digital media and Spark are responsible for the offline media.

As such the successful candidate will be responsible for the offline planning on the account, as well as ensuring we liaise with Digitas effectively and seamlessly.

The Marriott portfolio is broad and as such, the audiences we target will vary from brief to brief. There is opportunity to work with some of our European counterparts too, so there is plenty to get stuck into!

Under Armour is Global Sportswear and Apparel brand that is rising fast, providing a challenge to the likes of Nike and Adidas. This is another Digitas client where we pick up the offline activity. They have just signed off a large TV / Cinema & BVOD campaign and we have a great opportunity to grow this exciting client.

Qualifications

Who are we looking for?

This role is split across the above 3 accounts and would benefit an ambitious, individual who has the vision and skills to move the brands forward in new directions. You need to have great communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills – our clients like to be challenged but with diplomacy. Close attention to detail, people management skills and a positive attitude are also crucial.

You will need to have a firm foundation in both traditional media (TV, OOH, Print etc) and digital. You will be expected to develop ideas both internally and within a cross-agency group that challenge our clients and make their brands famous. 

This role would benefit an ambitious, experienced and pro-active Manager who has the vision and skills to move the brands forward in new directions. You need to have great communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills – our clients like to be challenged but with diplomacy. Close attention to detail, people management skills and a positive attitude are also crucial. You will be responsible for the integration of the inter-agency team and maintaining good, strong relationships with the precision buying teams.

Because the role is demanding you will need to make an immediate impact in the area of day to day campaign planning and delivery and so it is important that you have experience as an accomplished Senior Exec or Account Manager level in a media agency. You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of the campaigns, researching into audiences, management of reporting and assist in the development of brand activations. You will also be expected to liaise with the internal buying teams to achieve the common goal of delivering world class work. You will also be expected to play a role in the business development of the accounts and the agency – you will be involved in the maintenance of internal forecasts, stretch planning and identification of organic growth opportunities.

Experience in the Alcohol category is preferred but not essential. You will be expected to demonstrate your confidence and understanding of working with high profile brands and have a track record of developing innovative work.

You will need to be confident managing both up to the AD and BD as well as down to the Senior & Account Execs on your team. With the Manager role comes responsibility for the planning product and also for the growth and development of the people under you.
